London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part VI

Saginaw has a great first line (25-77-Epperson, 86?), but lack depth. Their D can be easily exposed. Average goaltending whether it's Oake or Papineau.
I saw the team bus arrive at the rink, and was asked by one of the players: "where's the entrance?"
I said: "Just go in the backdoor".
Laughed my ass off at that rendition of the national anthem...the first anthem sung. This isn't the 80s so I can't comment on that any further.
Waiting on instruction from administrators before I edit the threads.
It was a class of persons with disabilities. They tried their best.

The defensive plays of both O'Reilly and Barkey were missing last night, along with their speed, it's explaining why the more sustained attack by the Spirit, as both are members of the top two lines. London is a really well-balanced team, with Barkey and O'Reilly back along with Cam Allen, they are stronger than last year's team, including in net, with the loss of George and Edward it made me have my doubts, but not anymore. IMHO

Yes the anthem singers did their best and kudos to them and their teachers. God Bless them as they are a valuable part of society whose special needs should be focused upon and praised as part of our society. Last night’s game reminded of how much I detest Zane. Wish Simmer could have connected with check at bench. Phony bastard went down like he was shot and he missed him. Really starting to warm up to Read,Fimis and Fagen’s games. They should be assets moving forward.

Was speaking with an NHL scout at last night's game. He is not a fan of Parekh. And I quote "talented kid but lazy and soft. He can get away with it hers but is going to have a tough time in the bigs".
On the other hand, he also said Dickenson was far better overall last season compared to this season. His defensive game needs a lot of work. Which is why I see 3 back with us next season, probably with an A or C depending on how 86 shakes out with Philly.

I actually thought Papineau kept the score close last night and made some very good saves.

As far as the first anthem, I surely didn't find it amusing. The placement of the microphone was unfortunate. The crowd showed a lot of class in its applause afterward.

Dickenson seems to be focusing a lot on the offensive part of his game this year. Perhaps at the request of his NHL team.? Who knows. I agree that at times he doesn't make the simple play defensively. I think we will see his all around game more in evidence come the playoffs

Imagine the Knights and Colts end up in the final and he stone walls them after they traded him to the Knights lol
I don't think it was a trade in the purest form. London wanted Elliott and talked Barrie into claiming him (even though the Colts had no intention of keeping him) so Barrie could flip him to London for a draft pick. Let's call it a 'gentleman's agreement'.

Papineau played the game of his life last night and most certainly kept the game close, but still not good enough as Elliot has shown his worth!

Agreed on the anthem, as soon as they announced who was signing I kind of cringed. But all would have been perfect if they moved that one mic back a foot or so. Kudos to them for have the balls to sing both anthems though well done!

Very true. It was just be funny if he ended up stopping them in the final. They may end up regretting the deal. That being said, acquiring Elliott was such a shrewd move by Hunter and is paying off big. When he was acquired I thought that he was just insurance for Medvedev…didn’t expect a 30-1 goalie with the best numbers in the league.

I know the Knights are closing in on their second best record in franchise history, but something seems off with this club. Allen looked like a less than ideal fit before his suspension. Joey Keane lite. Medvedev is playing like a 17 year old goalie. There have been inconsistencies on forward. Dickinson has changed his game to riverboat gambler. Perhaps I’m being too harsh. Just don’t see a well rounded club like we did last year. Also, the team takes too many penalties and the flip side to that is not getting many calls their way. Perfect example is Spellacy blindsiding Julien today with no call.
This lack of discipline cost them in 04 with Captain Bois and last year with Sim. Guess you can’t criticize Dale and his 1,000 wins though.

I don't see this at all. I'm quite confident in this team. We won't lose a 7 game series to any team (as long as we stay healthy).
Yes, Medvedev has fallen off, but make no mistake, he's the backup come playoff time. There's a reason why we're the top team in the O and it's consistency.
Today's game is not indicative of how we'll play in the playoffs which is certainly with more intensity and with a full lineup. We were going through the motions for much of the game. And Windsor is also better than they played today...Cristoforo and Protas will make them a deeper team.

Windsor 8-5 over London

I had a whole paragraph already written, I erased it, just say this. I wanted to see young skating legs with 70 yrs-old minds today against Windsor, instead we got 19 yr-old minds with 70-yr-old legs. I think Dale got out coached for the third time this season in Windsor. Full credit to Windsor, they have figured how to outperform London Knights players

I can honestly say that not one player stood out as having had a good game today. Even spark plug Sim mailed it in. Didn't look like any of the team got off the bus. From Goaltending to Defense to Forwards. Haltsy a -4? Yikes. And where the heck has BM47 been this past month? I guess this is what happens when you clinch this early and have nothing to play for until the playoffs.

Bit of a stinker for sure but as long as we don’t have any injuries over the last 3 games we will be just fine!
