London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part V

Kitchener loses in ot
Kitchener has had a lot of last 2 minute comebacks this season and this was another one. Thanks to the Generals for putting it away in OT.
Knights 2 points up with 4 games in hand with the Rangers. Nice to have those extra games but so important to play a full 60 minutes in each of those games.
So glad this upcoming game is on the road (Barrie) just to get their focus away from last weekend’s distractions.

It will be difficult to know how the event of last weekend affects the team. I’m sure it was a shock to everyone and it would be understandable if their focus was distracted. We all need to give the team a pass if performance isn’t up to par this weekend and a huge thumbs up if they perform well. We often forget that athletes are human and have the same life issues as we do.

Exceeding blood alcohol level as a novice driver is anything above zero.
So yes if he has minute trace of alcohol it does change the perception of his DUI
The charges he got are all standard DUI related charges for anyone minus the leaving the scene
In reading this, it sounds like the additional charge of being over the legal limit is because he blew over 0.08% Driving with a Blood Alcohol Level in the 'Warn Range' is proven to increase the Risk of Car Accidents.
Yes knights have 1 card left has to be soon though roster freeze is in a week or so

I wonder if there's an opportunity to bring in a USHL player?

Apparently, if a player playing in another non pro league (ie USHL, BCHL, NCAA, OJHL, NAHL), has played a game in that league after our trade deadline, they aren’t eligible to play here this year.

Pros (AHL, ECHL) are a different story.
Hmmmm any 19 yr old D in A or E? Seemingly no. Any other options? I feel like the Hunters left one card on purpose and should use it now. Definitely need another D. This really sucks. Allen was supposed to be a key contributor for getting us 1st place and during the playoff run.

First overall is still pretty much a given, chicken little.

Well he was brought in at a very HIGH price to help with it. Would have been nice to get Dickinson a bit of rest. Even Bonk could use a few games off. With Allen out this makes it more difficult.

Knights Point % with Allen .816

Knights Point % without Allen .833

Of note, without Allen also includes many games without Cowan, Barkey, and Halttunen.

Next man up..Team will be fine

Fair. Just unfortunate that those assets could have been used on someone like Mews or Gibson.

Anyways I agree the Knights will prevail

I think 10-15 games would be a suitable suspension. Considering the legal penalties that will be levied if found guilty. He's 20, and will learn his lesson the hard way. This is not the same situation as Mailloux. And as tragic as the Gaudreau situation was, that has nothing to do with this.
What are you smoking, can I have some? LOL

How do you define rest though... from Feb 4 to Feb 13 they only played 1 game. That itself qualifies as rest, no?
Also, if they keep this winning pace they will be able to sit some players for the final games when the #1 seed is locked up.

The Attack just signed Lenny Greenberg from BCHL Jan 31 .
He played his first OHL game a few days later

Great game to start the 4 Nations with an amazing OT and Knights favourite Mitch Marner with the winner.

Pending what the court outcome is, Allen might want to look at European options if he wants some sort of career. Actions have consequences.
I just don't see how this will really impact him pursuing a career in the NHL? Let's state the obvious he is not required to have a valid driver's license to play professional hockey. Unlike a truck driver who requires one as part of their employment for example. Fortunately for him (thru sheer good fortune) no one else was injured or killed in this particular incident. It's not a bullying, sexual misconduct, domestic violence or hate based crime. I really think it's being blown way out of proportion by a lot of posters on the forum. He is a 20 year old man who will get his day in court and recieve based on our laws the appropriate punishment. It's not the OHL's role to fight drunk driving in our country that clearly belongs with the judicial system.

One last thing about Mr Allen and I will move on as I know many want to. Wasn't all that long ago Dany Heatly killed his teammate while driving drunk at excessive speeds. And although he missed time from injuries I don't think the NHL ever did suspend him? The US courts found it acceptable to let him off with probation, no jail time at all as I recall. Crazy must have had some high priced lawyers perhaps from Team OJ?

If that was your kid in the passenger seat. You'd feel some different way about it I assure you.
