London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part V

You're probably thinking of Mark Hunter, who Dave Branch did suspend ( initially for a full year ) but IIRC, that suspension was ammended because of overlapping responsibilities involving management of the building etc.
No, I meant Logan. He was charged with a DUI as was Dale, but charges were both eventually dropped.

Just wondering if there was a suspension to Logan on that issue to compare to this incident.

It’s mentioned in this article.

Unfortunately our legal system is a joke and the charges will be dismissed or at a minimum he will plead down.

Whether his charges hold up in court or not, the OHL has a duty to make an example out of him. I hope he never plays another game as a Knight.

Adding, Dumais only faced two charges, Allen faces 5. Dumais' case is still to be determined.

I stand behind my initial comment. Should be gone for the season + playoffs with the team offering support services. However I'm guessing it will be much less.

Late in the Petes game with about 35 seconds left. Hunter looked over at Cowan on the bench and said you want to go on..Cowan shook his head no. Its a relief its done.
That is awesome! I think Cowan realized that at this point he has proven his incredible consistency and now will focus on the task at hand. WIN

Regarding Allen if indeed he is suspended as expected what will the Knights do on D?

My thought is do a top 4 of:

Dickinson-Brzustewicz
Woolley-Bonk

But the third pair is where it gets interesting.

Call up Mitchell and go with Mitchell-Fimis?

See if Fagen or Spencer can rotate and hold their own? At this point I don’t have the confidence in either, but perhaps the team can work with them to get them up to speed.

Another option is Sam O’Reilly. I know he’s a vital part of our forward lineup and taking him out of there and placing him on the back end would likely impact the forwards heavily, but is this an option Hunter goes to?

I feel like they could play O’Reilly with Dickinson on the back end. If they did this they would likely view the Bonk-Woolley pair as the top pair.

Lots of options and lots of season left to figure this out.

O'Reilly will not be playing D, they have 7 very capable D on the roster. The only way he plays a regular D shift, is if 4 guys get hurt and there are no other options.

Can Mitchell be called up? Or does he have to wait for his Jr. B season to end, before he can be called up full time? I know he can come up and play some games, just not sure about full time.

Personally, I am perfectly okay, with Fagan and Spencer rotating and playing 10 minutes a night. They were fine before Allen, they will be fine without Allen (For however long that is). I personally, think this is a chance for Bonk to step up a bit more and start putting up some points again.

Do we just go all in on one pair with Bonk and Dickinson?

I do have concerns with Fagen. I like that he takes risk, but he does make a solid amount of mistakes. How can he improve before end of season? I feel like Spencer doesn’t have the best foot speed.

Agreed we were fine pre-Allen we will be fine now.

My thought is with O’Reilly he would be a nice RD. Good size, good skating, played D u16 as far as I know.

I know this wouldn’t be ideal, but he could provide offended from the back end.

Wtf was Allen thinking? Well to be honest drove impaired a few times too many myself. That was before MADD even existed. Luckily never got caught. With all the negative publicity surrounding driving impaired and the Uber and other platforms it is stupid to take such chances. Glad nobody was seriously hurt. A mistake is only a mistake until it’s corrected. He has already admitted the mistake so hopefully he gets whatever help he needs.

The sad thing is Fagan will be inserted into the lineup. I'm kidding...well, sort of.
Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt, and Allen hopefully learns a valuable lesson. Serve your time kid.

I honestly would think 10 games would be sufficient depending on whether or not there were other issues. I would think he is in enough legal trouble and would realize he could have hurt someone really badly.

I don’t think he is a bad kid, just did something incredibly stupid.

I like Fagan over Spencer.
