London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part V

Just some things I found intriguing about the London Jr. Knights squad. Danny could be considered as an assistant coach if we do want to add another to our group. Will there be a passing of the torch at some point?
The Knights franchise is fundamentally a "family business" . If and when Dale chooses to relinquish the coaching reins, Dylan Hunter & Rick Steadman are biding their time as assistants. I honesty can't see the Head Coaching position being given to any individual other than family. Mind you, Dale has that long NHL pedigree that neither Dylan or Rick have. That does command a level of respect from Knight players, along with his proven record of developing players to move on to professional careers.
Any new head coach will have some mighty BIG shoes to fill !

I’m more talking Danny comes in as an assistant

The one thing I have leaned over many years and it is the same in all the sports. You never want to be the next guy after a legend retires as a coach. 95% of the time for whatever reason the next coach fails. Maybe London will be different, who knows?

What if the next guy played for the current coach for 5 years, has been his assistant for 10+ years and even has the same blood as the guy he's replacing?

Exactly. Kitchener wins a home game after Knights were late arriving because of bus ailments. I think Knights win all three. Parsons is playing well but I think he is playing a bit above his talent level. We will see.

CHL Top 10 came out today and London still number 1, not that it means anything other than being kinda funny that they are #2 in OHL
How do you figure #2 in the OHL? Am I missing something? Last time I looked the had a game in hand on both Kitchener and Windsor and were 5 points ahead.

I believe the OHL rankings are based on recent play since the last ranking. Kitchener stayed hot while London lost a few games. no biggie. In the general scheme of things it doesn't mean squat.

Why is succession even being discussed?
Plenty of topics to be sure, but speculation looking into the future is fair game, is it not ? Then again, there are some folks who tend toward being superstitious, and don't leave a will, because confronting their own mortality is uncomfortable. Sort of like mentioning the word " shutout' during the 3rd period of a game where the goaltender hasn't been scored upon :confused:

Who is going to be the goalie in 2037-38?

Superdee, that is a poor excuse. It was up to the players to keep physically and mentally sharp on the bus. There are many things they could have found to do. Preparing for all causes is part of the road to professionalism, as is a 5-6 hr trip to Ottawa or up north.

It must be it, from Jan 18th to the 26 the Rangers went 3 and 1 in four games. While London, from Jan 19th to the 26 they went 4 and 1 in five games ;)
