Trading Walman hasn't worked out for Detroit. Shipping out Edvinsson would be comically worse.

Anyways, I still have questions about everything that happened with Walman. I think what it boils down to is there had to be some sort of locker room/character issue that caused Yzerman to want him out of the organization.
They didn't really need the cap, and while they needed the roster space, that could've been achieved by attaching the pick to Petry or buying out one of Holl/Petry.
This isn't really a case of "Defend Yzerman, he's infallible". He's made a lot of questionable UFA signings that make the organization's pro scouting look like shit. But what he doesn't do is give away an asset, let alone pay a team to take them. Unless he wants them out of his locker room due to character issues, a la Vrana.

...totally missing the comparison here; Chairot benefitted greatly from Weber's defensive play & Two-Way acumen...I've never heard anyone say that Pettersson has benefitted greatly from having a Two-Way STUD like Letang or Swedish Jesus as his partner, probably because neither Letang or Swedish Jesus are Two-Way STUDS; more like offensive Juggernauts & defensive Black Holes...
This seems logical. The off-season is when Stevie should be looking for longterm pieces.
The market for Marcus is gonna be volatile and a team will likely have to overpay.
Still think he ends up on the nucks.

Pretty sure he's saying Karlsson and Letang suck so much now they make him (Pettersson) look even better than he really is.
The Penguins have zero chance of making the playoffs, Dubas needs to think of the future here even knowing that he won't be around to see it.
At some point they should talk to Crosby about going to the Avs maybe but Crosby is a traditionalist and will probably retire a Penguin and never see the playoffs again.

I'd like a move for the Red Wings but outside of what would seem a steal by the Red Wings I don't see a deal being done between the two with the other teams that'll likely be involved.
