Okay then who will our import be?
Semenov is signed. Not exactly putting up the points though in USHL. They probably trade for someone and bring semenov over next year.

Fergus is right though. You don’t NEED an import at this point. Getting one will just burn assets and screw the lineup.

Semenov I think was/ is supposed to play here this year but the visa is an issue. Doesnt make any sense though when there are other russians playing in the league.

I think Dickinson has shown the best of this group so far. Based on this years production I’m not sure Barkey has shown enough. I could be wrong
Barkey has been a little bit disappointing. I definitely think he gets invited to camp though. Believe was one of the last cuts at last years world juniors and then was at the world junior summer showcase this past summer

Dickinson has been amazing but still will be competing with a lot of guys a year older.

Agreed Barkey will pick it up

True, but he’s clearly the best D in the O right now

I'm not sure he is the best D in the O but he is probably in the top few. Gibson in the Soo would be right there.
Yeah, pretty sure LDN is just looking at point totals.

It'd be nice if the OHL provided more advanced defensive stats.

I've personally liked Dickinson this year but he's also prone to turnovers. Needs to make better choices.

For you card counters (I know that's an historically sensitive topic), looks like London has used 27 already this year, excluding Halttunen.

I'm not sure but heard games at the start the year don't count when players are at NHL camps as well during the world junior tournament (this year starting Dec10 for Canadian team). at that time teams must declare their A card players. Leonard was not signed to an A card yet before he was traded. There are some that are close now. We will see this week if a few are sent to JR B or traded. Not 100% sure of the start of the season but I know Leonard was not on a A card before trade to Owen Sound.

Interesting.

I was under the impression that returning overagers automatically counted towards an “A” card.

He partook warmups last night so he is close. Probably plays at least one game this weekend. Who knows if he gets sent down after this weekend or not….

When Bystedt comes backs and Coe comes back Halttunen would probably be stuck on the 4th line.

As more time goes by, if he doesn’t get sent down soon, it becomes more likely that he will go to the WJC and they will see how he does there and then get sent back down after the WJC.
Heard Gleb Semenov has been given his Canadian Visa
So him not being recalled tells me the knights still have hopes of a Halttunen return.
Would be very attractive to the Sharks too.
Halttunen will get top line mins and top pp for sure here this season

Never thought it would happen. Posted as much last Jan. Hope the kid still can force his way to stay. I like seeing players move up n on.
But dang it'll be funny to watch the reactions from around the league if he is sent back. He'd be a top 5 sniper easy in the league added to a team that's already deep n for nothing. And furthers the already ability flip a few OHL quality pieces at F that can't get PT here to restock draft cupboard.......
Restock the cupboards and add a top 6 F.....Asset management supreme. Ok dream over lol.
I do agree with many, a solid top 4 D addition would help for sure but if ya can do it while keeping draft cupboard nuetral by selling/ buying and moving redundant (but ohl quality Fs).......

What a crazy year with the new ability for teams to add college hopeful/committs from outside without losing assets. Let's see who can navigate this curveball to benefit their squads best. It'll even out in future years but those who get the jump this year could benefit big.
Not sure there are any D that would be worth dropping a current D down a spot for. Any1 know of one?
EDIT
If they can flip 2/3 Fs ok with moving on it should get enough assets back for a steady eddy vet D without moving your top 2/3 young Fs.

If that were true, I’d assume the Hunters think there’s no ice for Gleb in London and would rather him play somewhere like the USHL.

Without Haltts, let’s remember, there are sixteen (16!) forwards on this club.

Echoing @rve24 , hoping London can flip one or two F’s for pick restocking.

Definitely think this club needs some depth on defence too. Not a number 1 type. But somewhere in the 2-6 range.

Makes perfect sense he is only an 07 and needs that playing time as it is his draft year.

Hopefully for his sake he can pick it up as he only has 2 points in 10 games in the USHL. If he were to come to the knights I don’t think it’s anything more than a bottom 6 role this year(obviously with an enhanced role next year and potentially year after)

Yeah, the landscape of the CHL is changing by the day with last week’s vote.

For London, I think it’s business as usual. They were already operating as a hybrid type model, buying and selling simultaneously. Never really overpaying for assets with a limited shelf life.

Players like Van Gorp, Nicholl, Read are only increasing their value. If London hypothetically were hell bent on acquiring picks, they could quite easily sell Van G or Nicholl, while keeping this year’s window open.

Note: I’m not suggesting to trade those players, just brainstorming possible ways to restock the draft pick cupboard as that is probably the weakest link of the organization right now.
