yeah, as @Otto posted in the other thread. Ruling takes effect in 2025-26.

Interested to see if that impacts the Montgomery rumours. My understanding is that if he joins the Knights this season, his NCAA eligibility is toast.

Or…? Am I wrong?
I think he can play in 2025-2026 in the NCAA

Would make sense. If you join pre maturely then the old rules should apply.

Stupid move on his agents part. I don’t understand why he and some others would ever jump the gun early.

I guess the question is, if Montgomery joins London this season, is he eligible for NCAA starting Aug 1/25 or is he disqualified because he joined the CHL in the 24/25 season, in this scenario?
Wish I had the answer to that. There’s a lot of grey right now. Wish they would specify what would be happening to the ones that committed early.

I haven’t read much so forgive me, but what if a player is playing NCAA now and wants to come to the On then go back to NCAA? Vansaghi for example

The obvious answer to this speculation is there is no restriction between the OHL and NCAA unless the player signs a pro contract, in theory could jump back snd forth. Who cares, likely won’t happen.

Definitely, means Montgomery would be on his way.

I think this question & answer will apply to Blake Montgomery's signing with London, he has not signed with Ottawa and London will not accommodate him for more than his necessary league and daily living expenses, he should be okay to sign with London base on this answer if accurate and there are no other clauses ;

I WAS RECENTLY DRAFTED BY A TEAM FROM THE CHL (INCLUDES THE OHL, WHL, AND QMJHL) AND THEY WANT ME TO SIGN A CONTRACT IMMEDIATELY. IS IT OK FOR ME TO SIGN A CONTRACT EVEN THOUGH I WONT PLAY FOR THEM THIS YEAR?

Players may now participate in the CHL (which includes the OHL, WHL and QMJHL) prior to initial full-time collegiate enrollment, and not jeopardize their NCAA DI eligibility provided not more than actual and necessary expenses for participation are received or guaranteed or specified.

deleted my other posts because I was wrong.

Regarding this ruling, is the general consensus the CHL will become a little younger with the top 16 year olds opting for it instead of the BCHL/USHL?

What concerns me is the 18-19 year olds. Overagers that are good probably have D1 options. Although they usually have pro options anyway.

I wonder if the Q and O start drafting 15 year olds like the W.

Also will be interesting to see how the next CBA pans out. If there is a signed player (like Cowan) that is not 20 yet, will the NHL team be able to place them in the A? @Buttsy mentioned this a few pages back.

Lots of questions with answers that could not turn out very pretty for the CHL.

I could see this absolutely. Shane Wright was allowed in the AHL at 19(because he had exceptional status) but with him breaking the barrier I could see others arguing that if he can do it why can’t others.

Too bad about Leonard. In spite of that news, I appreciate interactions like this between opposing fans.

I think London and Owen Sound have a long trading history, probably because they’re of similar mindsets. I can’t recall DeGray ever getting taken advantage of in a trade by Hunter, unlike the IceDogs.

Great to hear Sam McCue is doing well. A lot of people thought Peterborough “won” that trade with Owen Sound last year. My thoughts were - people have not seen McCue enough. Great deal by DeGray.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the season and sorry fellow Knights fans for hijacking the thread.
Yeah I really liked Alec. I thought he was an over age keeper. Great tough defenseman .
The guy we kept can’t stay out of trouble/ terrible selfish penalties
