London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

This is why I’d have kept Leonard or even upgraded OA’s elsewhere. I understand he’s injured again but that’s just bad luck and not predictable.

I like Sim when but he’s too volatile. As an OA, he is what he is - not going to change. It cost London dearly in the final last year just as Bois’ lack of discipline probably cost London a championship in 2004.
Bingo. I said early on Sim would be the odd man out for me.

More Knights following Montgomery on instagram.

Dickinson is one of the best defencemen I’ve seen in London over 25-30 years. I cannot see him back next year.

Love watching Noah Read. He’s not great at anything specific, but his persistence is fun to see.

Henry Brzustewicz has established himself as a top 4 defender right now. I was lukewarm on that deal last year but it’s paid dividends already. I don’t have a problem admitting when I’m wrong.

Speaking of admitting when I’m wrong, I will gladly do so if someone has a replay of Boulton’s hit and can show me where he made contact to the head, resulting in a check to the head major. I feel it was a poor decision by Boulton to come in looking for a big check at that time of the game.

Medvedev was good again. Looks very confident and doesn’t overplay shots.

Great game last night! Really starting to click but are guilty of taking the foot off the pedal.

This is why we have a ton of rostered players, Sim, Boulton, Hawery out. Cowan twisted his knee at the end of the game.

Should give an opportunity for others to step up.

Good to here that Montgomery is coming just waiting for a pen stroke!

Tonight, eyes are on the Barracuda. Lots of movement there with their forward group, does Halttunen slot in and perform or get scratched?

Best defencemen in 30 years. That is a bold statement !

There are 4 class of defencemen

-Offensive minded - Excel on offense, gifted offensively, often getting trap out of position on the defensive side of the puck
-Good, not great - Average defencemen steady, good enough to help on offense, hardly out of position on both ends
-Defensively minded - Very responsible on the backend, covering for his partner on the ice, very dependable, not gifted offensively
-Fillers - Usually trying too much or doing more that they can handle, poor hockey sense and do not follow team roles

Henry Brzustewicz is on par, progressing as game experience comes, we've only seen small sample of what he will be capable of when consistency comes along for him, next year he will be Dickinson's replacement on offense (I too believe Dickinson will be gone)

I like the energy that Boulton brings, that hit however was dangerous, he did come from a long way out at full speed. Yes, the player was falling down on his own at the moment of the hit, the hitting game is about separating the player from the puck, not driving through the player. A slower Bolton would have had the time to ease on his fast-forward movement. I still like Boulton a lot, unlike his older brother Sawyer, Ryder has shown some ability to learn the game, beside all the hits and the fights, there are many other things he does well on the ice, that coaches love, but goes unnoticed by fans

Me three I said the same thing Sim surely has a lot to bring , toughness, speed , goal scoring , but takes multiple undisciplined penalties, he did it in the preseason that helped a team tie a game late , and he did it in OwenSound again late on Wednesday only to get bailed out by Cowan in ot.

And the creme de la creme - major penalty in the Memorial Cup Final. Don’t know how you proceed with Sim after that fiasco. But, right or wrong, Dale loves that type of player.

This is the type of player that Dale wants. He is there to throw the other team off of their game. Dale finds success from this style of hockey.

Are Sam McCue and Max McCue similar players.
When did Max grow into his gameoi think it was his 3rd yr when I noticed a big change ?

Was a contributing factor imo. 5 minutes shorthanded and gave up a goal. Final score 4-3. But most of the team played like shit in that game, to be fair.
The whole team is the contributing factor of a win or loss, not just one player regardless of errors, teammates are accepted as they are, with good and bad plays. When one does an error, teammates should be there to cover or compensate for him, that's the team effect, the better they are at covering for each others the better the team will do and chance to win

Does anyone know (for sure) that Blake Montgomery is definitely going to be signed by the Knights ?? I see Flint has signed Hayden Reid and Owen Sound also signed Mason Roy both from the NCAA program ….. it was announced last week that Montgomery “was” going to be signed … but so far nothing….. asking for a friend 😊

Still on Concussion protocol
“Kasper Halttunen hasn't played since Oct. 25, but is practicing again and is also considered day-to-day at the moment.

The Barracuda Homestand continues with three games next week, including two vs. first-place Calgary. Sounds like he may be back by those games, but we'll see”.

Rob Simpson said the transfer agreement was completed between the Knights and the Stars but needed approval from Hockey Canada and USA Hockey.

He should be here next week……. And that was a late post…. He is signed!
