Post-series thoughts:
I'll start with the Sting...Have to be proud of that team's effort, and the incredible support that they received from the community. Great fan base. HBs Sting fans have been incredible, Sting Updates, Ferda, DWheeeler, Robp, and the list goes on.
Now, the Knights....As I've said many times this season, I love this Knights team, their style of play (kudos to the coaching staff), their speed, their stingy D, their scoring that's spread out, and the goaltending. We didn't go "all in" at the deadline, but made smart trades, bringing in Winterton, Humphrey, and before that, Diaco.
If you're not very familiar with the Knights, and you're wondering how this London team made it to the OHL Final, I'll tell you...
This London team does NOT have one powerhouse line. NO superstars, but a good number of very skilled forwards (e.g. Diaco, Barkey, Cowan, Winterton, McGurn, etc...) with scoring from any line. The team is fast, very fast, tenacious forechecking, especially from "two yutes", Barkey and Cowan, and is opportunistic. The D-corps is one of the most talented, stingy that I've ever seen in London led by Bonk, George, Mailloux, Dickinson, Edward, and MacKinnon. Much of our success this season is due to the systems put in place by a knowledgeable coaching staff with a group of players capable of executing it. Those who haven't seen a lot of London were under the misguided impression that we cruised to the Western Conference Final because we faced two "inferior" opponents in the first two rounds. Those people will have a difficult time explaining how we beat a powerful Sarnia Sting team that went all-in at the deadline, and beat them in 6. I'm listening....
As for Bowen, I guess he can "toot his own horn"!
