Interesting thing being tried at the NHL allstar game - it is a chip the players wear that tracks right to the split second when a player is on or off the ice. It will give accurate numbers to the league and the team. Not sure if this will get approved or make its way down to the lower leagues but it sounds like a big step in the analytical world. Would be nice if these kind of stats were available to fans.

Well there are many Leafs fans that hate Babcock's player deployment and usage.

Your appeal to authority isn't a great line of argument. There have been plenty of bad coaches and GMs that have reached the highest ranks.
Firstly, I love this rebuttal. Strong tone.
But misleading nonetheless.
But I do love the guy at the bar that says "if I had Phil Jacksons Lakers and Bulls teams - I'd have 11 championships too!"
Or even better - "give me the 92 and 93 blue jays - I would win with my eyes closed!!"
Joe Torre won a boatload of rings, got almost zero credit by the people who supposedly knew better - and since Torre got gassed the yanks have won once.
Babcock somehow doesn't develop properly. Leafs were a laughing stock since 94 - but the guy who brought them to relevancy doesn't know jack huh?
Even Dale sat Ovie when he was the second best player in the world because he wasn't backchecking.
In Super Nintendo ice hockey you could choose a skinny guy, (like a formenton) a medium guy (like Robbie Thomas say) and a fat guy (like a carbonara) and you choose a combination of all three to win.
Too many skinny guys, you score sure but you get pushed around.
Too many fat guys you get a rocket point shot but you can get skated around.
See? Simple.

For some anyway.

Not speaking for KnightWatch, but I posted some lines earlier. Turko has a role as a 4th liner and a solid PKer. Tymkin I believe can play a top 6 role, or on this version of a Knights team, a top 9 role.
In no particular order (as I mentioned, 3 scoring lines and a shutdown line.)

Foudy-Hancock-Tymkin
Guskov-McMichael-Dunkley
Formenton-Cotter-Stranges
Turko-Moskal-Nelson

I say flip Formenton and Tymkin myself.

No, I haven't, but teams top lines are often on the ice for 20 minutes or more.....so if we're matching lines....

....and it sure seems like his line is out there 20 minutes a game.

Last night they Showed Liam Foudy's Ice time after 2 periods and Jean-Luc Foudy's ice time after 2 periods and Liam was at like 9 minutes and 39 seconds and Jean -Luc was at 11 minutes which would be nowhere near 20 minutes for a top forward on the team.

They don't tend to get quite as many minutes in a blowout......but in close games, it's a different story.

LOL....and you guys wonder why people leave these forums? Many of you have no use for anyone who dares to disagree with you. Well, sorry, I'm not gonna kiss anyone's a$$ and agree with everything they say. Part of the thrill of participating in these forums is the ability to play armchair GM and express an opinion...even if it DARES to disagree with the old guard....and yes, vouve, I've won plenty coaching hockey, soccer and baseball....thanks for asking!

This works from both sides by the way. I got accused of having something against a kids father because I didn't feel he was a good fit for the Knights

I certainly have no problem with this team. When they decided to sign the 5 sixteen year olds ( McGurn to St Thomas) they put their mark in the sand that this was a rebuild year. Rowe couldn't handle the fact that he wasn't as good as the 3 16 year old forwards so had to be dispatched. They had to get Timms because Edmonton has such a history of ***king up and rushing 1st round picks, they had to sign Kooly because up until he was sent back there was a buzz around Blackhawk land Boqvist was staying. How the hell could you pass at the chance to get Lochead for a 3rd round pick in 2024. Getting Bouchard,Formenton and Boqvist was a shock to everybody . Mark went about his business getting Joey Keane for Duhart and a 2nd ( 1 more 2nd and 3rd) if he plays an overage season was a steal if you compare him to OA Nic Mattenin who cost Eric Henderson, London 2nd 2020 and a 3rd in 2022. Getting Hancock for Andrew Perrott and a 3rd would compare to Guelph getting Entwhistle for 2-2nds and 3-3rds. We got the better players at bargain basement prices. Mark also traded Golden, Pierce and Popov for picks to put in the cupboard and give them a chance to play. All this and the are hovering around 1st overall and they have draft picks coming out their a$$es to build this time into a dominate force.

Yes seriously, and could be not generous enough with the numbers it can be higher, watch for Stranges hit the 100 points next year and Guskov not far behind
Okay...I would not mind that one bit...just gonna have to wait and see

This post is so all over the place that it makes it difficult to respond to so I’ll just pick out one part.

In no way did Babcock “bring the Leafs to relevancy” by himself. A huge part of that has to do with bringing in several young superstars.

There are many different ways to build a hockey team. There’s no single blue print. A puck possession team that barely threw hits won the Stanley Cup 3 times since 2010.

Keep on appealing to authority with selective examples though.

Today in Oshawa is another one of these games when the Knights have been having problems getting up for. The Generals are playing their 3rd game of a 3 game weekend after playing the 67’s twice to meet London after coming back from Ottawa.
. The Knights don’t seem to recognize they need to push their opponents hard from get go when a situation like this presents itself, not allowing them to have a sniff of any hope of a victory for them against the Knights.

Which Knights team we’ll see tonight ?
