with our luck we'll end up 1 pt from a playoff spot.

Yeah no kidding.

IF there is a shortened season, I think we'll either make the playoffs or flop like crazy. It all depends which team last year was the real Leafs.

Hopefully we suck, because I really want Mackinnon. He'd be the best thing to happen to the Leafs since Sundin.

You cant just fold teams

NHL would need to buy them from current ownership and pay city/arena's a ton of $$$ to break leases

We would be looking at likely around 1B in costs for NHL to fold 5/6 teams

And when the Cnd dollar slips someday (Probably not soon though) back into abyss ,, Will you support removal of all the Cnd teams that Bettman/NHL saved once before?

Why would the US dollar gain against the Canadian dollar when the US is in as bad a financial condition as Greece?

I actually feel pretty good about these upcoming talks. This is the first time all year I can actually say that.

I am not talking soon ,, But it isn't unreasonable to expect your economy to suffer down line and for US to recover at some point

And my point is that NHL trying to make it work in these markets financially is no different then NHL bailing out Ott/Edm/Cal in late 90's ,, A fact many people up North in there hate for Bettman/NHL seem to forget

And I mainly get annoyed with constant bashing of Car and Nashville

Both fanbases have been grown from ground up and made progress ,, I think both are good longterm markets for NHL thus why we need more patiance

I can say Nashville of today is vastly different of Nashville 10 years ago ,, The growth of hockey in the Tennessee area as a whole has been nice to see

Fehr; "They did make a comprehensive response to what we gave them yesterday."

Elliotte Friedman‏@FriedgeHNIC

Bettman: we gave a full complete response...we anticipate meeting again tomorrow

Isn't tomorrow anticipated as 'an important day' so things could start rolling on getting hockey back by January 19th?

A deal will not be struck until the latest possible time to kick off the season. It's just blatantly obvious now. So may as well just wait for that day and not read much of what's going on.

I've believed this for quite some time . While i can't stand Fehr he's not an idiot like the previous NHLPA head was . He'll squeeze as much as he can out of the owners and then settle . There's nothing to be gained from losing the season .

I think there'll be one more day of disappointment with both sides separating. I think they'll get it done before the drop dead date, though.

I was optimistic a month ago when Daly and Fehr had that quick presser together and Gary had his own 30 second "Q&A".

Now? I'm not too optimistic. I have a feeling this is going to get derailed as Fehr is going to keep poking the bear and asking for more and more...

Either way, if it does get done, I don't feel it will be done before a legit season drop dead date...another week or two.

I'm pretty sure something will get done, there is too much money being lost, for them not to come to an agreement.

I think the next week or so will be all about pushing it a bit further on each side, till they get it.

They came this far they are obivously going to the 11th hour.

From now until then (about 9-10 days) both sides will blink JUST a little more. They will both give in a bit as they've come too far right now to turf another season.

This won't be settled until the last day or two.

Nice to see Bettman and the Owners finally prepared to negotiate as opposed to taking their puck and going home sulking after each PA proposal.

You have to wonder why they couldn't have done that months ago.

You have to wonder why the PA wasn't offering anything feasible or worth negotiating, months ago.
