Why not trade and then buyout Dipietro and Gomez? Grab a first from each team. Heck, it will bring the profits down for the Leafs so the money they have to give back to support the league's weaklings will be less.
Any fresh news?

The NHL,thru Bill Daly ,has already advised Fehr Inc & PA that if Disclaimer(2) is played the season shall be over.

That would be an interesting thing for the Leafs to do. Ask for a first rounder or two from the Islanders. Wang needs the money. He won't turn it down.
Trade Komisarek to NYI for DiPietro and 2 firsts. Islanders need to go to cap floor and this helps them get there. Komisarek's salary expires after 1 year and NYI are rid of him at that cap hit. Remember is salary paid for '13-'14 is less than his cap hit. They can sign him cheaper later. Not a bad fit.
Leafs dish out some 25 million to buyout DiPietro which counts as an expense on the books and lessens money they pay out to the NHL weaklings. therefore, 25 million isn't really 25 million. They end up with 2 firsts, and Komisarek off the books without having to buy him out.
Next trade a 2nd to Montreal for Gomez and a first. Buy out Gomez...same principle.
Go into 2014 draft 3 top 20 picks, no Komisarek, trade for Luongo (if he retires, Canucks absorb the remaining cap hit) and there is still money to throw at Getzlaff, Lupul, Perry, Kessel extension, etc.
Burke is actually in good shape coming out of this CBA as opposed to the Leafs after the last CBA.

I like your enthusiasm but do you really see the Islanders burning two first round picks which could be first overall just to get rid of a bad contract?
The habs do have 3 or 4 contracts that they'd be happy to nix; Gomez, Markov and Kaberle but do you see them making a deal with us?

How does trading DiPietro for Komisarek get them to the cap floor? That doesn't even gain them any cap. That actually helps them lose it. That makes 0 sense.
I'd have to double check but assuming the cap hit is still average length of the contract, Komisarek's will be higher than DiPietros 4.667

So you want them to give up two firsts for some one they will more then likely amnesty?
Who are you talking about? I just said a few posts up that the Islanders are NOT going to give up two firsts just to nix that DiPietro deal.
For information purposes...
Komisarek and Dipietro have equal cap hits for the remainder of their contracts at 4.5 per season but Komisarek's salary is 3.5 for next season and then he is a ufa, while Di Pietro's is 4.5 for the remaining years.
As far as my line if thinking is concerned, I am trying to think outside the box and while 2 firsts may be unreasonable, I think there is a deal of some kind to be made. There is a definite monetary advantage to NYI to trade DiPietro which is worth something to them.
I guess I am assuming that they need to buyout DiPietro's contract regardless .
Once his contract is gone, they need to move to get to the cap floor. Trading for Komisarek moves them closer toward that floor while saving them 25 million in buyout money for DiPietro. Komisarek's cap hit is larger than his actual salary, which is exactly the kind of salaries they need.
Burke isn't going to trade for a long-term contract like that. He doesn't like giving them out nevermind taking one for an injury prone goalie.
But isn't the point that he's doing it only to buy him out once they have him?
