I've worked in a couple situations that the union caused pay raises for non-union employees.

Non unionized employees have almost no rights, except to quit and go elsewhere which means the companies don't have to worry about pension costs.

The indoctrination seems to work really well. "You're either with us, or against us".

I know a team can go 10 W-0 L -72 OTL and make playoffs with 92 pts by theory... 10 win team can potentially make the playoffs..

They have no choice to open up to 20 teams in this format cause too many teams get hosed yearly or make wins worth 3 pts like soccer..

92 pts does not guarantee a playoff spot. So a team who never lost a game in regulation time could miss the playoffs...

Didn't catch the name but on either sportsnet or tsn a talking head said they do not have to have another vote to disclaim if they do not act tonight.

Said the union can disclaim without a vote.

I was under some sort of impression from the newsmen that this was the deadline to do it.

Why else would there be urgency from either side revolving around this evening?

The players voted to give the executive board their authorization which ends at midnight. They can still do it at any point, it just wouldn't have been voted on, so it really only a very soft deadline.

Its midnight and no disclaimer has been filed (that we know of) so I guess thats a good sign for people who want a season right?
They could have filed and just not told anybody, but as of now it looks like a good sign...
