GDT: Lloyd vs Canes

Have to start criticizing the TOI

No reason Dowd has as many minutes as Ovi basically and more ice time than McMichael, Dubois, etc.

Dowd started the game off losing 9 faceoffs in a row (went 7-19 overall) and was on ice for game losing goal after a faceoff. I have no idea why he was out there so early in overtime.

Dowd is a good player who had a career year - but dowd and Duhaim don’t need to be playing as much as our top guys each night. The Canes are just as deep as us so we gotta put our top guys out for better matchups.

First time I think I ever criticized this coach - because SC is one of best in NHL, but tonight I just didn’t get starting the game off with 4th line and playing them so much overall when we couldn’t provide any offense whatsoever.

Carbery needs to take a long look at himself this series as well. I don’t think he had them prepared for the speed of Carolina, and this is a faster Caps team than last year’s. They were timid and looked unprepared for Carolina’s hustle and effort. ,

I don’t think it’s all about speed, even guys like Staal were busting their asses hustling. That’s a team that has been skated into better shape than the Caps. We will see if Carbery has the ability to learn and adjust. .

The Canes aren’t shit. They’ve won nothing the past 10 years (or more). But you gotta take the game to them, instead of trying to suppress their bullshit passive aggressive style of play. You’re either better than them or not, but you’ll never by sitting g and watching what they’ll do first. f***ing take it to them.

Yep they either want it or not.

This. its doubtful the Canes can play much better. Its easy for the Caps to play a lot better. Or so we hope.
Well, Carolina could certainly execute better offensively while controlling possession. I doubt this was really their A game. They controlled the game but within that could have executed better as well.

The Caps still really lack explosiveness. Kind of clear as day that they're still well behind pace. And it's not just skating but anticipating, chemistry and thinking the game quickly with a lot of flexibility/creativity. The Caps are too chunky but don't even have a real gutsy power game. Really soft effort in this one. In theory they can play a lot better. Their clears can be cleaned up a bit I guess. But it's hard to say how much control they can snatch back to their side. More physicality should be part of it as a matter of pride. Where even was that? A real waste of home ice.
