Post-Game Talk: Literally shooting yourself in the foot

Nurse is one of the few defenseman out there that when he goes down can still let pucks go under him, while taking his stick completely out of play and struggle getting back up.

This is on Knob. He needs to implement a no sliding rule for Nurse.
that first picture, Nurse broke up that play I thought.

I think its perfectly fair to lay blame on the guy that has a 5.37 gaa and .818 sv% this year and a career 3.03/.888% over the Hart candidate who was scrambling to cover for his wildly out of position goalie.

Yes, if Leon simply took a knee that puck doesn't go in. The only reason he was in that position in the first place is because he was desperately trying to cover for skinner who misjudged the time left on the clock and overplayed the shooter.

That's the thing. One guy has consistently shown he's an elite player that's consistently elevated and dominated.

The other guy is on his way to his third consecutive second round series with a sv% below .840.

People make mistakes and shit happens. But like - it's easier to say one guy is playing uncharacteristically bad and will bounce back, and thus deserves grace.

I'd argue the other isn't making mistakes / playing bad, but is actually just bad.

Skinner also failed at the first goal, reverse VHing while someone took a shot at him from distance, for some reason, and then just flailing to the ground. Horrific technique.

2nd goal he drops early, there's no shot fake, and then he just opens up his five hole as if to try and slide across, except he doesn't even move. he literally just dropped into butterfly and opened up his five hole to let the goal go in without moving an inch side to side. His brain is cooked, he can't make decisions or track the puck, and then his legs just get locked and do weird things. That, combined with his lack of any athletic ability, have completely sewered this team.

I'm tired of hearing how skinner is an elite technical goalie. He's echl level in every facet of his game. He is the biggest fraud in the league.
Skinner is Ty Conklin yet the Oilers management feel like he's got potential to be a high end starting goalie. He has choked in every playoff for us and we only moved on because we got saved by Campbell and Pickard yet the management keeps moving forward with him.

Beyond a doubt, we know Skinner is not the guy. Not now, not next year. We don't win the series with him.
Hoping this lights a spark in Drai because he's been pedestrian at best for him.
Good time for some roster changes. Stetcher for Emberson. J. Skinner? I would take out Ardvisson, it's funny watching him fall but can't stand his play. Janmark? Two half hearted stick checks in his own zone led to goals.
I'd like to see Drai start playing like Kucherov, with a mean and dirty streak, use his body more to get the puck and make a difference in the turnover ratio.

You're taught at a young age to never go down on the ice like that since it takes you out of the play except in specific situations. This is Nurse's go to for everything.
Seems to be pretty popular now, Nurse isn't the only one doing it.

Lol. @MessierThanThou thinks Skinner and Skinner alone is to blame. Man that's hilarious

What's truly hilarious is how desperate you are to find someone to pin Skinner's abysmal numbers and performance on, when we just saw six games with another goalie, playing behind that exact same defender, putting up consistently and significantly better numbers. I'd keep laughing, but I'm already sore from all of your other posts today.

Um, is Nurse not playing the top image correctly? Took away the pass on a 2-on-1 and is giving the shooter nothing to shoot at there.

I mean, when Skinner's in net we should just have all 5 players stack themselves on top of eachother in our net. It'd be more effective.
Nurse played it so well they didn’t even get a shot off on the 2 on 1. Knights still scored a few seconds later on a harmless play.

Probably the “team’s” fault or “Bouchard’s” fault though for allowing the audacity that is a shot on net. We’re not allowed to blame the goalie.

A million ppl watching at home thought it was a shot. The entire arena thought it was a shot. Time on the clock 100% played a factor in this thought process.

The Oilers thought it was a shot. This is evident by Nurse who was on the ice and the other dman who was looking back for the rebound.

Skinner did 2 things that you are taught to do from the time you put on ⛸️.

#1.Step out to face the shot
#2. Play to the whistle.

A million ppl and our 2 dmen ignored #2.

Hilarious to see how many ppl.change the narrative cuz of emotions

I'm saying yes, in hindsight Draisatl should have let the puck go through the unmanned crease to where Karlsson was being tied up, because there was only .3 seconds left on the clock and it would have ran out before he could have swiped it into the empty net anyway.

What I am also saying is that Draisatl had no idea how much time was left on the clock, all he saw was his goalie 15 feet out of position, and tried to block the pass to Karlsson who only had to get a stick on it to score an easy goal.
I'm swearing at Drai last night but also happy that he is backchecking as its not his highest priority. More mad that Knob played them again after exhausting them in to tie it up and then try to win it before OT. Connor Brown scores the odd goal too but is better at preventing them.

Not that I agree with Skinner but with goalies a lot is their mental state. I don't think a good attitude for him would be a "well I tried my best..." or to be down on himself. I even will agree with him in that he had some good saves leading up to McDavid tieing the game.

He's probably in net again next game so I'd prefer he take an attitude of trying to build off of what went right last time and then cleaning up what went wrong as best he can. I don't see how taking blame for the loss will make things better
Someone posted a link to a Wikipedia page describing toxic positivity. Fits Stu to a T. If you can’t criticize your own game, you’re doomed to never improve. Hell, that applies to everyday life. I f*** up at work, I say I f***ed up.

Last game went to OT. Before OT Pickard made a late save and the rebound was directed wide. Use some common sense here

Why do you think people have these emotions? You’re ignoring years of evidence.

In all seriousness though wtf is this

Guy was horrific, looked panicked every time the puck got near him and then made one of the worst plays I’ve ever seen on the GWG

What really strikes me is that he also never holds himself accountable, it’s always “I thought I played well” - what a joker

If this org was serious, Skinner would have been gone long ago. But that he has even graced the uniform after the debacle in game 2 vs LA where he laughed / smiled while getting lit up and the crowd chanting his name, mocking him, is an abomination.

Rodrigue should have been backing up Pickard after that point, and should have started after Pickard went down to injury
