Post-Game Talk: Literally shooting yourself in the foot

Listening to Skinner’s post game again- not only does he not take accountability - he is blaming his team. “I gave them a chance to win” meaning the loss is not his fault- it’s the teams. He has done this before- earlier in the season when the team lost to Florida and he was shit- he blamed the team. He most definitely reads his own press clippings and has settled into “it’s not my fault” mentality. This is as good as he will ever be.
Not that I agree with Skinner but with goalies a lot is their mental state. I don't think a good attitude for him would be a "well I tried my best..." or to be down on himself. I even will agree with him in that he had some good saves leading up to McDavid tieing the game.

He's probably in net again next game so I'd prefer he take an attitude of trying to build off of what went right last time and then cleaning up what went wrong as best he can. I don't see how taking blame for the loss will make things better

In the first play if run in replay Nurse is only player back and taking away the pass across.

2nd play its a clusterf*** 4 on 2 play. More to blame than Nurse on the play and he's just the one in view. How about the forwards way behind the play staring at the play as 4 Knights surround our goal

3rd play is primarily shitting pants because Skinner is in net (somewhat jk)

Skinner also failed at the first goal, reverse VHing while someone took a shot at him from distance, for some reason, and then just flailing to the ground. Horrific technique.

2nd goal he drops early, there's no shot fake, and then he just opens up his five hole as if to try and slide across, except he doesn't even move. he literally just dropped into butterfly and opened up his five hole to let the goal go in without moving an inch side to side. His brain is cooked, he can't make decisions or track the puck, and then his legs just get locked and do weird things. That, combined with his lack of any athletic ability, have completely sewered this team.

I'm tired of hearing how skinner is an elite technical goalie. He's echl level in every facet of his game. He is the biggest fraud in the league.

Can you believe we have supposed fans trying to defend him at all for last night? And not only trying to defend him but shitting on the Hart trophy favorite who we are lucky enough to have on our team?

I mean I get that not everyone is born with a full deck, and maybe one or two of them took a puck to the head, but there are definitely some trollish "fans" in our midst.
Thus why I took immediate exception to the title of this thread.

The second goal was just an nhl player scoring on an non nhl goalie

Hahaha- Dubnyk disagrees with your assessment. If you’re going to play that shot like that- you have to make sure the puck is stopped because the net is wide open. Has Draisaitl scored from the angle? On a freaking one-timer?

Hey now, OilerTyler was a third-string goalie at the Brick tournament in 1999. He knows what he's talking about here.

We pretty much know what we will get from Stu at this point. It is what it is, and nothing is going to change with that. What worries me at this point is the play of Drai the last two games, and the continuing slide of Nurse and Kulak, among others. Nurse is the boat anchor of our D core, and it just keeps getting worse. Time to dress Stecher and pair him with Darnell, they’ve had success in the past, maybe Troy can settle him down. As for Drai, we won’t be going very far if he continues to play at that level, plain and simple.

Sorry but disagree. The coach at the other end was telling Hill in no uncertain terms he needs to be better, way better, and HIll was trying to tell himself that and was angry about his performance to this point. Angry about it. For one because Anger is a good motivator.

Its just that Skinner lives in this Care bears world with unicorns and rainbows and its think happy thoughts all day and everybody is accepted and everything is OK. Chocolate and marshmallows for everybody.

Theres competitive aspects and determination and the other hand its what Skinner is doing which is bare coping skills. He's still trying to deal with the anxiety of being in the show so he's doing everything to try to calm himself (its not working) and the same mental instructions cause him not to be upset about anything, no matter how bad his play is. He's basically working on kind of calm zen. Which would be great if his occupation was Gardening.

Im gonna treat Skinner in nets like the way I handle drinking. Next day after drinking when Im hungover, I always say thats it. Few days later, I always give the booze one more chance. Just one more .

Yes, with the power of hindsight my sense of timing is off.

Do you think Draisatl knew at that very moment if he just lets the pass through to karlsson the clock would run out before he has time for an easy tap in in the unmanned net? Do you blame him for not knowing there was .4 seconds left on the clock not 2.4 seconds?

I'm not looking to crucify Drai here buddy. This board is looking to crucify someone.

I'm just calling it fair. Drai deflected a wide shot into his own net. Those are the facts

Imho tons of goalies that are great have a competitive spirit and admit when they mess up. They use that as motivation to stop and their team mates appreciate it. Stu is the only goalie I have seen who acts like he is perfect and it clearly drives his teammates nuts.

What an absolute delusional REJECT this POS is lol. Go fuk off to the KHL you garbage goalie
Did Drai get interviewed after this game, because he has the other half of the horns with Skinner in this one. He hasn't been playing very good lately, I'm sure the excuse will be due to injury. But if he is injured they need to give him less ice time going forward.

I think its perfectly fair to lay blame on the guy that has a 5.37 gaa and .818 sv% this year and a career 3.03/.888% over the Hart candidate who was scrambling to cover for his wildly out of position goalie.

Yes, if Leon simply took a knee that puck doesn't go in. The only reason he was in that position in the first place is because he was desperately trying to cover for skinner who misjudged the time left on the clock and overplayed the shooter.

Rodrigue, Delia, Day, jonansson, anyone else. They cannot start Stu again.

Like I suspected yesterday, I think Pickard broke his leg when hertl fell on him

That should pretty much end our season. I feel better about strapping a shooter tutor to the net instead of having this f***ing pylon between the pipes. Even if by some stroke of luck Pickard returns for game 5, winning two of three without home ice advantage after giving Vegas all the momentum will be a tall task.
