Post-Game Talk: Literally shooting yourself in the foot

I may be wrong but I'm sitting here half cut and know in my bones our journeyman back up wins us this one. Not replacing Skinner with a professional goalie at the trade deadline is a failure. Well, not replacing him at any point in the last 3 years is a failure. He isn't that guy and he never was that guy....Picks better get his ass back asap.

I was referring to his entire game tonight, not just that one play.
His entire game where he makes a great play up ice despite being double teamed on the play to spring McD and Perry for his first goal.

Or a great shot that hits iron. Or another good shot that barely misses.

In a tight game he had those. Was he his usual great self? no. Is this thread yet another ugly calling out of our best players that are really the only reason to watch? Yes.

I dunno. We seem to blame our superstars intead of an org that didn't address the goaltending which was the real story tonight. Starting from the first Vegas goal the Oilers were shaking their heads and McD did. They knew they were in a dogfight becuase of the doofus in net. Once again you need 5 goals to win if Skins is in net.

Mcdavid scores 2 ES points yet finishes the night a minus.

He needs to dial it the f*** up too.

This is on Skinner, but 97 was not near good enough in his own end and Leon needs to stop throwing the puck around like an idiot.

Put a new goalie in the net and have a conversation with those two about commitment to puck management and not being stupid.

You literally can’t start Skinner again. That last goal was pathetic to a degree that you almost don’t believe is possible
The fact he thinks he gave the team a chance to win should mean hes sent home immediately.

I dont care if he somehow goes on to win a Vezina somewhere else, he cant start another game for the Oilers.

Anybody tries to bat that puck away. As a player in that situation there is no way to know that puck is not going in. Karlson is also right there and so Drai figured in real time, in a split second instant, to do what he did. Shitty situation to be in and kind of telling as well Swimmer, I mean Skinner is out of his cage losing his mind with one second left, the D are somewhere, and Drai has the misfortune of coming back to what would otherwise be a game saver but the puck tips in off his stick.

Hockey can be a cruel game of bounces but it was for Vegas too on the own goal tying goal. The Oilers never deserved this game. Its the usual habit they played badly in game 2 but won so start figuring they can bring nothing through 3 periods and eke out a W.

Every period of this game every line allowed Vegas to be in this game. Certainly weak Skinner allowed Vegas to stay in this game.

After watching the sequence several times, yes, you may be right. Just terrible luck on Draisaitl. The whole sequence is a comedy of errors for the entire team. You can't let that happen with 10s to play.

This game is going to haunt them if they lose this series. Let Vegas in in the worst way possible.

Letting Karlsson get that pass off from behind the net is inexcuseable, just go stick to puck and we're in OT now.
Then obviously McDavid and Nurse gets caught off guard, both gets stuck and throws themselves to the ice.
Then Stu overplays the puck and Draisaitl puts it into the net.

Total nightmare fuel, I just hope they can shake this off, it still has me stunned tbh.
An absolutely incredible choke. The kind that can completely flip a series.

And like - why the f*** is our goaltender in a different f***ing area code?!

Like, that's literally insanity. It's a nothing play if he just f***ing hugs his post.
It’s like he tries to make every scoring chance look like a rodeo so that he can’t be blamed if he’s on his ass, belly, or 10 feet away from the net when the puck goes in.

Anyone blaming Draisaitl is a moron. Sure he was having a shit game, but if his goalie wasn't the world's biggest mental midget he probably would have scored another OT winner and made up for it. He has won many games for this team. Ask yourself why Draisaitl was even in Skinner's crease? Shouldn't Skinner be there? Oh wait he was f***ing swimming 4 feet outside his net for no reason with 1 second left in the game.

He needs to dial it the f*** up too.

This is on Skinner, but 97 was not near good enough in his own end and Leon needs to stop throwing the puck around like an idiot.

Take away the overtime goal and they haven't been overwhelming--have they?
