Norway got 1 shot in the 2nd period and it came at the 18:30 mark. The 2nd period was as dominant as it gets, Norway played a good game but I felt that score was extremely flattering for them.

They actually have 2 official shots in the 2nd period. They are basically a minor league team vs an NHL all star team, so holding a team of this caliber to 2 shots is not impressive. For Norway to have a total of 20 shots is impressive. That is more than some NHL teams had this year, ie NJ with 11 shots.

You only saw the highlights. They started very slowly in the first. Anyways the talk of dominating is over because Canada didn't win 16-0 over Norway :biglaugh:

Watched the whole game and found them boring for most of it. Horrible chemistry and a very "grindy" strategy. They won't dominate because there are other teams capable of beating them. That simple.

I don't mind grinding out a win. That's the style Babcock will have this team play. Puck possession and controlling the play. If we try to run and gun with the Russians, US, or even Swedes, we're going home early. The whole idea of Canada dominating is absurd. We didn't in Salt Lake or Vancouver.

Because their first line doesn't say, "This team will dominate every national competitor".

You can't have THAT defense and not win it all, but I doubt they dominate the tourney. Even the worst team in the games can have five guys stand across the red line or in the NZ and slow down any flow you might try to get.

We were within 1 goal of losing the gold last time. We won and we didn't dominate. I don't care for domination I only care for winning.

Canada doesn't need to make excuses, it just wins, like 2 of the last 3 gold medals. Does Russia ever win anything?

And this is why people wanna see your team collapse. Russia has Canada's number in juniors, and from what I remember eliminated Canada in the 2006 Olympics. Plus the five gold medals in World Championships...they also helped win World War 2 if you wanna go that far back. Also the 7 gold medals as part of the Soviet Union and 22 in World Championship play...and you contradict yourself saying the 1981 games don't count, sounds like an excuse. :shakehead

If the USA wins gold, I bet you would get pretty arrogant too.[/QUOTE

Hockey is like fourth popular of the major sports in the states but we've become surprisingly good at it. Its a niche sport that so many Americans care little about. Our best athletes for the most part are playing other sports like football and basketball. Its growing for sure and better talent is developing so that now we expect to at least compete with the best. The US has come so far its truly amazing however its still only a regional game for the most part. While we are happy to just compete for the prize, Canada expects to win it and thats the big difference as anything less than gold seems like failure. !
On the otherhand
America hates soccer and where pretty good at it. That sport is also growing in this country but we are far away from contending. Winning a World Cup would be unbelievable. Now that may be worth bragging about. The world would be dumbfounded. Finally America gets respect in European football. Too funny.
Now the
USA won 37 medals last winter Olympics and dominates the Summer Olympics. Thats a record and we won the medal count. They may even break that number this year. If they don't who cares its just sports. We may lose in hockey. No big deal
Hell we may get upset in basketball. Embarrassing yes but four years of training for redemption.
As long as the drought doesn't linger. No one Country truly dominates a single nationaly played sport anymore. The closest game maybe basketball but we all eat humble pie sometime. You can't win em all but as long as you win the majority of events no shame at all.

What are you trying to say? Of course we expect to win because we know our roster has the capability. USA is the exact same in Olympic basketball.

Probably would.

So, I'm not sure what you're trying to argue.

who cares if people want Canada to lose???, it doesn't bother me, just makes it sweeter when we win.

Russia doesn't have Canada's number in juniors, Canada has won 5 of the last 10 although none in the last 5 years. guess how many Russia has won in the last 10 years, ONE. I didn't say the 1981 games didn't count, i said they were won by the soviet union, not Russia. The soviet union was made up of Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Ukraine, and countless others. Either way, its still 33 years since their last best on best win, and even for the united states, its been 18. So please, before you start trying to belittle Canada's record, win some best on best titles

1) Doing dumb things like putting St. Louis in front of the net when the opposing goaltender (crouched) is taller than him.

2) Not being smart about line combinations. Sure Canada was rusty but the forward lines need juggling.

Why would US fans be arrogant if they win Gold at hockey? We win all the time at the Olympics. Is hockey gold gonna change that. The threads I read are the ones declaring Canada champs. Who's gonna beat us? We are the best most talented squad. This is our sport. The reason why fans of other countries want to beat Canada because of the arrogance.

The US has a team that we expect to win and compete with and its a quiet confidence.

Like I stated earl air. They beat you in the 2006 Olympics :naughty:

All that matters is if they click or not.

In the game against Norge I saw countless moments of unprecedented razzle dazzle that fell just short of perfection. If in the following games they can come together and gel, I'm confident in saying that this is the best team we've ever iced.

If they can't, well, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't medal.

I don't know why people get upset about Canadian fans thinking they are the favorite. They easily have the best team in the world. That doesn't guarantee anything but gives them the best chance at gold.

I think its pretty safe to say that Canada dominated this tournament. They didn't trail for one minute this tournament, and honestly can't say their was one time this whole tournament anybody can say they thought the outcome was in dispute. only 1 goal by finland, usa, and Sweden, and that was on a richocet, I don't think there is any dispute. pure domination

We will not Dominate because we dont need to dominate , when you're the best in the world you dont even have try lol :P

You guys are just lucky we didnt send two more teams

Gold, Silver and bronze ;)

yeah, I honestly think another Canadian team with Giroux and thornton would have beaten Sweden today.

We will win because this is one of the best Canadian teams put together, hands down.

Ok, with a shut-out in both the semi-finals and the finals, yes, Price is now in the conversation for the MVP.
