He's not wrong though.

And that says more about Keefe then anything else.
There wasn't much trust in either going into playoffs. Woll struggled after the injury and Sammy was up and down all year.

They could have going with Woll a game earlier but im not sure it mattered

That’s Keefe for you, needs an overwhelming body of evidence (sample size if you will) to accept things that anyone with two eyes can see isn’t working.

Looking forward to hopefully some more sensible coaching and quicker adjustments with Berube.
NJ is over the moon they got keefe, ahl coach

Sammy had no value. He was on waivers earlier in the season for free and no one claimed him.
Sammy's value was very up and down this season. Cleared waivers at one point but leading up to the tdl he had just won 11 of his last 13 games, they could have moved him.

Pretty shocking to see how trolled TOR fans got from this.

It reminds me of a few things:

1. Some fans become crazy loyal to players the moment they wear a Leafs jersey.

2. When Samsonov joins another team, certain fans will be pissed and accuse the GM of being "stupid".

3. Leaf fans surprisingly don't realize that Grabovski is trying to make a comeback in the NHL. Forget Sammy! Bring back Grabbo!

4. ;)

The Leafs didn’t lose due to their own goaltending. They lost because they couldn’t score. 1 for 21 on the PP and 6 out of 7 games scoring two goals or less won’t win a playoff series.
We were a better team with Woll in net. It was a simple observation from an opposing teams goalie who said what we already knew. Yes our offence couldn't score again, but at least Woll played better than their goalies and made it so Bostons offence couldn't score either and because of that we went 2-0 against them with Woll. Samsonov was bad all season and should've had a shorter leash in the playoffs instead of waiting until we were down 3-1 to take him out. Ullmark had a very good regular season and had a bad game in his 1 game against us and didn't see the net again.

You could break it down a million ways but if we started with Woll we win barring an earlier injury.

Game 7 was a first goal wins soccer match. Willy and Matty beat Pasta to the punch by connecting in regulation time to secure that goal, but we had to overcome the immediate short-side soft-goal response handicap. Most starters walk away from that game with a shutout, including Woll and maybe Jones. But not Sammy.

And Woll played poorly down the stretch and got hurt again and couldn’t help the team. Samsanov let in one goal in regulation in game seven. That should be good enough to win the game.

I disagree with the notion that Ullmark shouldn't say anything because he sucked in his one game. If anything it proves his point; he played, he was bad, and he was benched.

It's not as much of a critique on Samsonov as it is on Keefe. Which is funny because this was probably Keefe's "best" playoffs.

I'm tired of this iteration of the Leafs and will be happy to move on from some players, I'm also sick of playing the "what-if" game with them. That said, they likely win that series if Woll got the net starting game 2 or played game 7. The team was way way more confident in front of him.

Unfortunately he's made of glass so maybe he gets injured after a period of things went differently. Figured, the Leafs finally get a goalie who shows up in big games in the playoffs and he can't stay healthy.

Yep. The offense has been poor for a number of years now, "lead" by the core four, but good teams win sometimes 1-0.

The score is deceiving in that game. Samsonov killed them in game 7.

Maybe Linus should outline his comments with his own playoff stats this year.

He ain’t wrong.

The minute I saw Samsonov come out of the dressing room for Game 7, I knew I had wasted a ton of money going to the game.

First goal was awful, but Boston carried the play overall in Game 7 like they did much of the series.

they both played poorly. At least Woll looked very good before he got injured. All the more reason to go the Boston route and rotate the starts and see who played better. Ullmark played game 2 after Swayman played unreal in game 1. Woll had to wait until Game 5.

We need to figure out the future in this thread. We can't revisit who was bad in the playoffs.

Based on Woll, Samsonov, and Linus Ullmark; who the heck does Tre need to sign or trade for next season?
