Player Discussion Linus Ullmark (G)

True, I like where we are. The way I see it they have only played 2 real periods of Sens hockey out of 6 total (the 2nd and 3rd last night)

It’s not hard, we only have to win the next 6 periods of hockey to even the series and I think they will.

Leafs look great because they have scored first each game. Linus has to keep us in the game and let the Sens take over the game like they can
Technically we could get it done only winning 2 of the 6, provided they're won big.

Leafs have 4 PP goals in 2 games and Ullmark has an .800 save percentage - of course we lost both games.

But those two things aren’t happening again. Those trends will reverse

I wore my sens jersey to work. I still believe.

We have last change now. Guys like Sanderson and stutzle finally started skating. Ullmark started stopping pucks. I like our chances to win atleast 1 of the next 2, and then the next one to push this to at least 6 games.

How Ullmark plays in game 5, 6 and 7 will still determine the series. Good start for the Leafs but their demons aren’t lack of experience, it’s that they don’t play winning hockey late in playoff series.

Get it to game 6 and then game 7 and ,let’s see what the Leafs are made of

I think he and the team will bounce back at home.

This is the playoff baptism pretty much for our entire Core, and game 1 was the first playoff game for Ullmark with us and against our biggest rival. There is a learning curve for everyone involved here to some degree, even with their improved play from the second period on in game 2.

We need to give Ullmark a chance at home, I doubt Green would put Leevi in over Forsberg a la Tokarski for the Habs against the Rangers in 2014.

The major issue right now is that Ottawa's D is getting pushed around in their own end. Not one guy is routinely winning one on one battles and an injured Jensen is a liability. Consequently the Sens need their forwards to really help out but you can't have Batherson mailing it in like he did last night.

All the Sens gotta do is win all 3 games at home and 1 on the road. Doable. I believe. I saw the silver lining in there play to believe.

Ullmark has been lolmark, but that can’t be moving forward. He is capable of being better and reversing his playoff rep (poor). He has been the biggest let down.

I predicted Gaudette will score in game 2, but we need more from the likes of Pinto and Stutzle (shoot/release the puck quicker and pounce on rebounds for dirty goals).

Doable, think the team believes and did play well. Batherson has always been this tweener guy, last night he was utter turd defensively and contributed towards Dummy scoring in OT.

Well, Sens gotta take one game at a time at home to even the series at CTC. Based on how they played most of game 2 I believe they are capable.

Go Sens GO!!

Hopefully kleven gets stronger, as well as matinpalo. Like, gain that man/dad strength older guys have. Then if Yakemchuk joins the team next year in place of a hamonic and starts taking minutes from zub and jensen as they age, we could have 3 big D who can take hits to make plays.

As for this year, not much we can do...unless we think Jensen playing injured is so bad, and insert Gilbert...but he would have to play it safe, as I heard he's prone to mistakes.

He does seem to be big, decent skater, aggressive and physical...so maybe he comes in and surprises and becomes a solid bottom pair D for us? I don't know.

I just know Jensen is looking very injured and slow. Not who he was for the first 3/4 of the season. Noticed it the last bit though. Very slow.

The fact that Chabot can't help out any of his partners blows my mind. When it's him and Sanderson on at the same time you can seen Sanderson adjust, hesitate his game for Chabot...because he has no idea what Chabot will do. During the fckn shift...like second by second.

Not even thinking that far ahead. Just win tomorrow and it’s a series. There’s really nothing more miserable as a fan than going down 3-0.

It was a crazy stat that after the 1st period yesterday, Ullmark had given up 2+ goals in 6 straight playoff periods!

That's wild.

There is no way they are pulling him and I don't think they should, but even those 2 goals in the first yesterday could have been prevented if he was playing with confidence. He is tucked into the net, letting those puck go cross crease. We saw how Stolarz was preventing the easy cross create pucks, and Ullmark has to be out, not letting those passes in the blue paint through.

Still out there giving goofy answers like he's won a thing or posted respectable numbers.

Leevi should start GM3 to send a message and allow Ullmark to reset (with a chance start GM4 if the kid doesn't grab the ball). However, Travis Green doesn't have the courage to do it.

Boy, he better be good tomorrow.

I think he has the worst ever playoff numbers.

I do not think he has the mental fortitude.

Complete opposite to Leevi or Daccord.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on his horrific playoff performances as the product of a small sample size, but it's starting to look like he just doesn't handle pressure all that well.

Going from a .917 SV% in the regular season to a .876 SV% in the playoffs is absolutely insane.

On the bright side, he is absolutely capable of being a game breaker for us. He'll have to steal us a couple of wins if we're to have a chance at a successful comeback

And its the freaking Leafs they look so shit
This is the most frustrating part of it! Especially yesterday, they were primed to lose and coming back from 0-2 and winning in OT would have sent their media and fan base into a tailspin. Let alone how much more CTC would be amped up.

You know the Leafs have a big game in them, and the 6 goal output from Monday doesn't count as they were gifts.

My only hope is he was better yesterday than Sunday and if he can keep creeping towards his top game, we can get this turned around. We need him to be a superstar when we give up some of those big chances, and let the guys get their game going.

Is there a balance between looking like you don’t give a shit in the post-game scrum and being too hard on yourself? He sounds like he doesn’t even know we lost.

They have looked pretty damn good until they get the lead, then they lay off the gas. Scholar has been steady but not like our offense has challenged him much.
They play 5v5 like they're killing a penalty. Right from the start of the game. And wait for turnovers...which they bury. We can skate all around thier zone and shoot from the boards, point all day long. They get the rebound. We wait for the shot before we go to the net. Need to go there before the shot. Only Greig does it on the regular. Stu can shoot more, he pulls them out of position and then looks for a pass, and then the leafs get back in thier spots. The guys have a choice if they want to win or not. Alfie and Green are telling them. They have to do though.

I agree, I think everyone is overthinking and just overwhelmed that its the playoffs. This is where the Leafs have the advantage, they been here a lot recently. All I was thinking the last two games is how this is good for Stutzle/Tkachuk at 23/25, and maybe in the next 1-2 years they learn what it takes to play when the game counts.

Staios got some work to do this off-season tho.

People aren't overthis or overthat. They want to win, play respectable at least and that's fair. Not have it be a shit show. The boys have to decide if they want to. It's the players now. Nobody but them...DJ, Dorion, food, training facilities, owner, all gone. It's all on them. No excuses for the first time.
