It was nice of the team to give Linus a warmup game so he can shake the rust if for the 4 Nations. Now he can get another week of rest and be ready to go for Sweden!
Not being injured for most of the year would be a start, lolMy biggest concern with this guy is looking like a reality. Started 23 games this year with only 27 games left in the schedule. Even assuming he gets 2/3rds of starts the rest of the way through (not remotely a guarantee), he'll finish the season with 41 starts. You just can't pay your top guy $8M+ and he only starts half of your games. The math doesn't math. There's 8 guys in the league who already have between 38-42 games started. Many of them will finish with 55-60 GS. Last year, 8 guys finished with 55-60+ GS.
Next year, he will be one of 8 active goalies with an $8M+ caphit. I sure hope there's some sort of plan to get him up to the same number of starts as the rest of that grouping. Otherwise, this will not be a good contract for this team.
It should be noted that Ullmark has never played 50 games in a season in his career. The good news with Leevi's emergence is that we can probably go 50 games to Ullmark, 30 games to Leevi next year.
Probably going to be more like 40-40 between Linus and LeeviIt should be noted that Ullmark has never played 50 games in a season in his career.
His most games played in a season and that was in 22-23 with the Bruins, where he went 40-6-1 on the season.
(Those numbers don't even seem real).
That being said, I do think it is a legit concern with Ullmark with his durability to be a true Number 1 Goalie.
We are definitely going to need a very solid back-up/1B to play at least 30 games for us.
It definitely looks like Leevi is up to the task, but I think we need to remember he does have just 14 NHL games under his belt.
This would be so crazy to tell someone 2 months ago, but you could be right. The interesting thing would be that if Ullmark can't go for the tournament, is Forsberg the next man up for Sweden? He has been red hot this past month, and there aren't many Swedish options because apparently a guy with the last name LINDGREN is from Lakeville, Minnesota - not Stockholm.

He was .895 S% from jan 7th to feb 6thThe interesting thing would be that if Ullmark can't go for the tournament, is Forsberg the next man up for Sweden?
