I highly doubt it. I was going to reference the last World Cup myself until I read your next line. Lol.I’d have a lot more sympathy if it was an actual tournament of note and not a glorified all-star game that the NHL is vainly trying to turn into something serious.
As it stands, does anyone think that this will have any kind of lasting historical legacy?
I don’t hear a lot of people reminiscing fondly about the final of the last World Cup between Team Europe and Canada.
These days, when the NHL tries to do international hockey without the IIHF being involved in any real capacity, they f*** it up.
The NHL wants it to be theirs so bad, but it just doesn't have the luster that the Olympics seems to have. I'm sure there will be some decent hockey and they can't F it up as bad as the absymal All-Star weekends have gotten, but I would prefer it just not be happening.
