Sens next task is to add the right veteran depth guys to glue it all together. And they probably need to replenish the pool a bit.

I hope they break through and make it this year.

No, the core is rotten to the core...there's a loser mentality there (similar to ~2014 Edmonton core) that Ullmark alone isn't enough to salvage. Still lots of work to be done.
lol you’re talking about the habs dude, that has the rotten core, if you can call it a core.

Sens live rent free with you, and your username.

Wow that’s a bad take. He’s been their best defenseman.
That may be true, but I hope for Ottawa that he's one of those guys that can keep it going into his late 30s.
You're competing even more against time in a long season with a playoff run.

Are Dorion and Melnyk still there? No? The era has ended and a new one has begun. I'm not holding Dorion/Melnyk over the current FO/players and neither should anyone else.

If you read the OP it's referring to the "stink" ie legacy problems left by Dorion Melnyk.

Not solving their goalie problem was high on that list. So was never winning traded for established players. Ullmark seems to be breaking that trend.

Dorion still has a legacy though. Sens fans are still debating which 1st round pick to forfeit in light the Evgenii Dadonov trade with Vegas.

I have a feeling that Boston backed the wrong horse as their goalie of the future. It's already clear he's less of a selfish diva than Swayman, and he ranks 8th in the league for GSAA while Swayman is dead last at 86th. (forgive me if someone posted this already)

Sens are slightly above average offensively and defensively. They're tracking towards being a playoff team as long as the goaltending holds up.

People have completely forgotten that the Sens winning percentage last year was top end of the league WHEN THEY HAD BARE MINIMUM LEAGUE AVERAGE GOALTENDING.

The problem was they rarely got that. Was always difficult to win games when you spot the opponent 2-3 goals at the outset.

Yeah, I don't get this obsession people have with those two. They are long gone. Get over it.

Most of the core of this team was built by Dorion anyways.
