I think these will be our lines to start the season:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Newhook - Dach - Laine
Roy - Dvorak - Anderson
Armia - Evans - Gallagher

Guhle - Matheson
Hutson - Savard
Xhekaj - Barron
Struble

Montembeault
Primeau

If the team stays healthy, Laine goes back to his ppg form, Hutson shows why he's an elite prospect, and the kids continue progressing (Slaf, Dach, Caufield, Guhle, etc.), this team could make the playoffs.

The PP might look coherent with Laine

Laine, Caufield
Slaf
Suzuki - Matheson

Slaf - Suzuki - Laine
Newhook - Dach - Caufield

next year Demi arrives and Newhook goes down. we are f***ing stacked!
I like the idea of two big jabroni's on Suzuki's wings. Suzuki/Slaf are trending to be so effective defensively that I don't really have much concern about the other linemate and how good/not they are defensively.

Looks pretty damn good !
We're not making the playoff this year but we are not getting a top 10 pick either

Suzuki
Caufield
Laine
Slafkovsky
Matheson / Hutson

That could make for a really good top power play line.

If the second unit already has hutson/Matheson and dach then there might be some sense in trying to make 2 solid units by putting one of Laine and CC on each pairing.

Suzuki
Slaf
CC
Newhook
Hutson

Dach
Laine
Roy
Gallagher/Dvorak
Matheson

Or something like that. Everything gets even better when demidov is in the fold as well.

I hope it doesn't take long before Marty puts Hutson on the top pp unit

A unit of Suzuki - Caufield - Laine - Slaf - Hutson would be nuts

A 2nd unit of Roy - Dach - Newhook - Dvorak - Matheson would be decent as well

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf was as close to a legitimate top line as I've seen as a Habs fan. I'd keep it together to start the year.

Dach - Laine seems like a great tandem as Dach needs a shooter and Laine in the bottom 6 is just silly.

So as I see it there's some stiff competition for that last top6 spot. Newhook, Roy, Anderson and Gallagher could all spend time there.

On the PP I really like our options. Maybe we actually can have two good units?

Slafkovsky (netfront)
Caufield (wall) - Laine (bumper) - Suzuki(wall)
Matheson (point)

Dach
Newhook - Roy - Gallagher
Hutson

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Laine-Dach-Roy
Armia-Newhook-Gallagher
Dvorak-Evans-Anderson

I think this is the best and most balanced approach. The Newhook line meshed well to end the year and should stay together to start. Any third line with Dvorak and/or Anderson is sure to suck.

The top 6 with Laine is beautiful guys!! I'm freaking happy!!

Newhook or Roy can easily be one of the two with Dach and Laine.

I can't wait to see what MSL lands on for opening day...

I like the idea of:

Slaf Suzuki Newhook

Speed, skill, size & competitiveness to go toe to toe with any top line in the league. A line you can put out in the Ozone with :30 to go and needing a goal or in the dzone protecting a late lead

Laine Dach CC

Bookend a creative playmaker with two lethal snipers... Forcing opposition to pick their poison every attack.

Anderson Dvorak Gally

Very much "the expendables" vibe... Hopefully with enough pride left to play the 13-14min/game they get with reckless abandon and energy reminiscent of their prime years.

Armia Evans Roy

Roy's IQ and creativity unleashed against opposing depth players could be a treat, Armia is a good enough finisher to benefit from the opportunities created and swiss army knife Evans is poised for a big contract year.

Laine is best on the PP at the point on the left side taking one timers from a righty.

Struble still has potential, I'd rather not see him rotating as a 7D.

Whereas we have a ton of expendable forward pieces so best just stack those up as extra forwards.

It's kinda encroaching on Caufield's role though eh? Laine likes to slide down low as well.
Sounds like we should start balancing out our two PPs instead of just having one that's great!
