Let's for a minute assume both these guys actually play for the big club.

what would your lines be?

Mine?

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Kreider - Richards - MZA
Callahan - Miller - Gaborik (move Cally to the right, get Gabby comfortable)
Fasth - Newbury - Boyle (I like boyle on the wing, and I like Newbury..a lot, good 4th liner imho)

If I'm not mistaken isn't Fast just supposed to be in AHL With Whales until April 15th ? By orders/agreement With the Swedish National Team ?

Could be wrong though...

I've never seen him play - is he any good ?

Would Fast be here this year?

Wouldn't he need some time in the AHL to adjust to the rink size?

I like Fast as much as the next guy. Ranked him 4th on my fall prospect rankings.

But to think that he is going to have an impact for the Rangers down the stretch, while adjusting to the system, NA ice, and speed of the league is a lofty, lofty expectation.

Bill Daly was saying that he just has to declare his intention to opt out of the World Championships invitation.

Pretty much what I had except I'd have Boyle as the 4th line C and have Asham play the RW instead of Newbury. Like someone said this hurts our PK lines. However, I think Miller should get a look on the PK. Stepan, Hagelin, Callahan, Boyle are your main 4. Miller/Nash mixed in? I don't know.

Carl Hagelin - Derek Stepan - Rick Nash
Ryan Callahan - Brad Richards - Marian Gaborik
Chris Kreider - JT Miller - Mats Zuccarello
Taylor Pyatt - Kris Newbury/Brian Boyle - Darroll Powe/Aaron Asham

I think Zuccarello is going to make us a lot better and perfect for our bottom 6.

We should trade Boyle for a pick or a defenseman..

Interesting.

I agree with you that Cally can play the left side. Gabby obviously can't. Also Newbury. I like him too.

I'm really wondering how effective putting two new guys into the line up will be, but the teams recent play aside from last night almost makes it a must try.

People should not underestimate Fasth. I've heard very good things about him. He might just be ready and Tort's loves to use kids to give older guys a kick in the rear.

As for MZA, I have to believe this guy is on a mission. Feels like he belongs in the NHL and is getting his last chance to show case himself. I want to see how well he can hang onto the puck and keep his lack of size from becoming a liability.

This should all be a very interesting last 16 games. Hold onto to your hats.

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Kreider - Richards - Gaborik
MZA - Miller - Callahan
Newbury - Boyle - Powe

These are essentially what I had in mind, with Pyatt at LW on the 4th and Newbury interchangeable for Boyle. Then again, your combo is probably better for the PK.

Edit: Can Asham play left-wing?

I don't know why we're even doing this, because I think it's highly likely that at least some move will be made before the deadline.

But here's what I would do the way it stands now:

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Callahan-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Miller-MZA
Powe-Boyle-Asham

But, really, I think Miller belongs in the AHL right now. Pyatt and Boyle should be gotten rid of all together. Fast(h) is not playing here this season, IMO. He might get a short try out.

I don't think Miller is going anywhere. Tortorella gushes over him. Any moves Sather makes will probably be for a 6th defenseman and shoring up the 4th line/PK.

Yeah, and that's not the only thing Tortorella is doing right now that I don't like.

I agree with you Sting that Miller isn't ready, he is prone to turnovers unfortunately. I like the way he holds onto the puck though, reminds me of a younger, fiester, Johnny Malkin. With our center depth depleted, I think he stays and becomes 3c.

Hagelin/Zuccarello-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Gaborik/Callahan
Zuccarello/Hagelin-Miller-Callahan
Pyatt-Boyle-Asham
Powe/Haley

Girardi-McDonagh
Staal/Del Zotto-Staal/Stralman
Eminger/Hamrlik-Stralman

If we make the playoffs:

Hags-Step-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Gaborik
Miller-Boyle-Callahan
Zucc-Newbury-Asham

Plant Zucc on top PP unit. He'll get around 9-12 min a game depending on the amount of PP we get. That was his role last year until he earned more ice time. Why change what made him be so effective for us last year. If he earns more time we can think about it then. Until then, give him like 5-6 min of 5-5 time and make him a fixture on the powerplay.

Keep Pyatt the hell out... He brings nothing. Another casual flip of a shot to the opposing goaltender and I'm going to go nuts. It's a complete waste of a possession. Doesn't kill penalties, is soft as butter, and brings next to no offense.

Boyle does more on a bad day than Pyatt.
