So it’s officially agreed that Chlapik is clearly better than Anisimov, Stepan, and Paquette right?
Like he should never sit in favour of those 3 scrubs.
He’s faster, harder to play against, and has better skills - why are we so opposed to playing the guys we drafted/developed? We spend all this draft capital to bring in guys who know each other, have some sort of relationship and then we go out bring in/keep 8 stiffs on the roster at the expense of the guys who are/were part of the culture and grew together....so ridiculous.

I really liked what I saw from Batherson and Stutzle together. Also really liked Paul and White together. Norris and Tkachuk have good chemistry. The lines are shaping up on their own.

Tkachuk-Norris-Dadonov
Stutzle-Tierney-Batherson
Paul-White-Brown
Chlapik-Paquette-Watson

I really like those lines and want to see them for 10 games together. If I am very honest, I would wave Norris for Logan Brown cause I think it'll bring out the best in Dadonov and out of Logan Brown. This is something they should definitely consider. Norris has had his best games last 2 games so I'd understand if they wanna keep him a bit longer but I think Brown would thrive in that opportunity. Why the hell not give him a shot. This is just shocking to me.

Chabot-Zaitsev
Brannstrom-Gudbranson
Coburn-Zub

Must call up Brannstrom after the roadtrip. I would be SHOCKED --and he'd be a failure already--to be worse than Reilly has been.

If our defense continues to falter... we need to make a trade for a LD asap. We can't continue down this trajectory.

Time to get players like Connor Brown out of the top six. Next game Galchenyuk should be dressed and Stepan should be scratched. He should be played in a top six position. It should either be:
Tkachuk-Norris-Galchenyuk or Stützle-Galchenyuk-Batherson

Honestly our forwards aren't terrible, IMO.

Our top 9 forwards:
Tkachuk - White - Dadonov
Stutzle - Tierney - Batherson
Paul - Norris - Brown

That's not great but it could hold it's own... if we had a decent D corps. We don't.

Our right D is all around bad. Zaitsev has been better but after that we are awful.

We have some decent guys on the left side, in terms of prospects. But none seem to be suitable for PK duty. That presents a problem.

If I was DJ and I'm clearly not, I would start getting Chabot up to speed on some PK duties, while slowly integrating Brannstrom/Wolanin more into some offensive 5-on-5 situations. Then at least our left side can play our best players.

Chabot - Zaitsev
Brannstrom - Gudbranson/J. Brown (yikes but whatever)
Wolanin - Zub

So we are giving up a touchdown every game and the PK is brutal...

Can we agree that the "we can't bring in x player, we'd get killed when top opposition center y is on the ice" argument is bunk?

If we are goint to suck defensively, we might as well try and score.

Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Stützle-White-Dadonov
Galchenyuk-L.Brown-C.Brown
Paul-Tierney-Watson

Chabot-Zaitsev
Brannstrom-Zub
Wolanin-Gudbranson/Brown

Top 9 might need to be mix and matched to even out things but the idea is caution to the wind, lets see some goals (at both ends of the ice...)

It really isn't. It's a brutal shame that we are focusing so much on how trash the defense is and goaltending been terrible when the forward lines have been doing quite well time and time again. The only qualm is the faceoffs. We were beat 60% to 40% yet again tonight.

White has been playing sooooo much better which is enormous positive for us.

Can we please stop writing DadAnov instead of Dadonov?

Still think similar as before the season...

Tkachuk-Brown-Dadonov
Stutzle-Norris-Batherson
Paul-White-Brown
Formenton-Tierney-Watson

Chlapik/Stepan

Chabot-Zaitsev
Brannstrom-Zub
Wolanin-Gudbranson

Coburn

Murray/Hogberg

Paquette, Anisimov, Stepan, Josh Brown and Reilly are all not good fits or do not want to be here. Start by trading whoever is possible. Waive or Taxi Squad the rest

Now only need a new coach, a new GM and a new owner!

------------------------------------

lol this is one of my posts in October, which was before Watson, Stepan, Coburn, Paquette, Galchenyuk. Weird, I also didn't have Reilly in there...

Sens Shot - Predicting the Opening Day Lineup

Ok not saying I expect to this at the start of the season, or that DJ Smith and I will ever see eye to eye but this is what I hope happens by the 2nd half of the season.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson (Tkachuk the "vet" and who creates space for the 2 young guys)
Stutzle - L. Brown - C. Brown (Connor the veteran and his non stop motor helps the 2 others)
Formenton - Tierney - White (Tierney is a vet and White has more experience now, helping AF)
Paul - Chlapik - Balcers (Paul is now a vet, Chlapik/Balcers have significant pro experience)
Anisimov (vet that plays all over the lineup to cover for injuries)

Chabot - Zub
Brannstrom - Zaitsev
Wolanin - Gudbranson/Brown
Lajoie/Jaros

Murray
Hogberg

On defense, each pairing has a more experienced guy.

Edit : Well, it's going to be Watson instead of Balcers who might have to wait for injuries to get a chance

It's time to ease in Logan Brown and Erik Brannstrom. The alternative is clearly not working.

Our PK sucks, so there's no need to gift Paquette more ice time.

White is moving well and playing with confidence, so give him more responsibility.

Tkachuk - Norris - Dadonov
Stutzle - White - Batherson
Paul - Tierney - C. Brown
Chlapik - L. Brown - Watson

Chabot - Zaitsev
Wolanin - Zub
Brannstrom - Gudbranson

Murray

I like the idea of playing Brown, but don't want him on the 4th line. Not a good use of his skill

This would be just a short term move to help ease him into the lineup. He hasn't played hockey in almost a year, so his timing and stamina might be an issue. As his comfort level grows, you can give him more ice.

What purpose does it serve to have Aspirit on the taxi squad instead of Brannstrom? They could easily just send Brann back to Belleville without waivers when the AHL season starts.

Apparently lines are the same as last night. Can't we please put in Galchenyuk for Paquette? Paquette is supposed to "help us on the PK" but Edmonton went 4 for 5 yesterday...

Probably miscalcualted when they were going to start, and never wanted him to have to go through the week long quarantine once he went from the Taxi to the AHL.

Funny enough, he'll likely have to do that now to get onto the Taxi squad.
