Lindy Ruff named Head Coach, Press Conference at 1:00 PM EDT

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

None of the retreads thrill me. In my wildest dreams, grabbing the next Spencer Carberry would.
A guy who intrigues me is Washington Assistant, Mitch Love.
- 40 years of age
- Is from BC and played junior in the WHL.
- He was a pest and fighter in the WHL, with 40 fights in the 02-03 season alone. His wiki-bio states he is the only player in Everett Silver Tips history to have his jersey retired.
- 6 years bouncing around the minors as a player
- 6 years as an assistant with Everett in the WHL
- 3 years as a HC with the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL. This was over the covid years. The Blades had a .664 points % in his 3 years as HC
- 2 years as HC of Calgary's AHL team. They had a .725 points % over those two years. Was AHL coach of the year in both seasons
- In his 2nd year as an assistant with Washington

But he has so much head coaching experience. I would look at Todd Nelson and David Carle.

Nice find. Looks like the resume of a guy who could soon get a shot at NHL HC. Fairly similar to Carberry's.

A relatively young guy with fresh ideas, but who's been through the hockey trenches as a player and coach is my idea of a perfect fit for an underachieving, too-young team that far too often looks like the Keystone Kops on ice.

I very well remember your weird obsession with Ruff during those years.

What alternate universe are we living in where identifying awful coaching as a cause of a team's problems an obsession? Lindy Ruff is a awful head coach. So was Ralph Krueger.

Whats the chances Adams gets canned and takes Ruff with him? I had enough of this.
The chances are excellent to amazing. Sure Pegula tapped Adams to thin the managerial ranks to save cash, but I’m pretty sure he also tasked him with turning the team around. This was a make or break year for Adams and his roster. The results speak for themselves. He’s finished.

I agree in theory any GM would be gone after 5 years of losing but I not have the confidence you do.

Lindy is in Pegula’s ear. Direct line. After the videos and pics of the owners box in Utah I’m not as convinced that Adams is safe as I was.

But I know for a fact Lindy isn’t going anywhere or changing positions unless he wants to.

We should be thankful the Sabres failed so spectacularly. Imagine this unit missing the playoffs again by a handful of points. “The plan is still working!” would be the mantra coming from management/ownership.

As things stand today it’s obvious this GM has no clothes, or clue, or anything.

Ruff sounding tired, frustrated , and out of answers in post game scrums now.

I think we need to start thinking about a scenario where he does not return for his 2nd year.

And most importantly who the replacement would be.

Adams/Pegula will want Appert, 90%+ fans will not. I would almost rather give Leone/Prospal a shot

Who would be your choice or who would you want to get ?

If Ruff quits, I’d expect those conversations to be the end for Adams. Ruff was Pegulas choice for head coach, if Lindy is leaving Terry might just think it’s time to move on from Adams if there’s so much that needs to be fixed.
