I don't really understand the back and forth honestly...
Adams suggested at his presser when they fired Don that he knew who he wanted. Or at least what he wanted. But my impression is that it was a who. That in conjunction with what him and Lindy said today make it pretty clear Lindy was the frontrunner from the beginning.
Adams easily could've talked to 10+ coaches in a few days. That's not hard. Also doesn't mean he did an actual, thorough search. You can do ten screener type interviews in that timespan, but not 10 thorough long-form interviews with rigorous analysis.
My best guess is that Lindy always had the inside track but they talked with other people to keep their options open and make sure they weren't missing something.
And that's all fine with me. None of this silliness (or my broader issues with Adams as a GM) will detract from my elation at Lindy being back.
