It's probably a fair AAV for what he currently brings. I'd have liked a little more discount on a bridge. But if he grows his game, it could be a real good deal.

I'd like to see him create more for himself, play much better D and possession and better playmaking. His contributions with screens often go unmarked on the stat sheet So that off sets some of his weaknesses. Overall, good deal for both sides with the Blues at worst getting fair value

Solid bridge deal for both sides. And he’ll still be a RFA at the end of this deal.

Now to go check out the trade board and see how this will play out as some sort of Oilers trolling…

I like this deal. Yeah we could possible have gotten it done slightly cheaper. But the b the grand scheme of things it’s not a huge deal. It’s not like he’s making 8+. And he’s gotten a nice little payday for himself.

Love it.

I think there is an argument that he's not currently worth $3.75M AAV on a 2 year deal as an RFA without arbitration rights. I also think there is an argument that he is already worth that since goals are the most valuable thing in the sport for a forward. But even if it is a small immediate overpay, I'm very happy to pay it in order to get certainty for the next 2 years, eliminate him as a retaliatory offer sheet target, and ensure that we are negotiating his next (hopefully long term) contract when he is still 2 years from UFA status.

He is a player I wanted to bridge and I'm completely content with this number as the AAV to accomplish that goal.

This new deal ends the same summer that Faulk, Krug, and Binner's current deals come off the books. At the moment, Thomas, Kyrou, Buch, Schenn, and Parayko are the only contracts on the books for 2027/28 (with Schenn's expiring at the end of that season). We will absolutely be able to afford however much he earns when this deal expires.

SHIT, they saw my Neighbours/Jiricek proposal! They're on to me! :sarcasm:

In all seriousness, I'm happy with this deal for both sides. Neighbours gets a nice chunk of cash, and he's still a RFA at the end.

Now, Army, do Hofer - and maybe Toropchenko - pretty please with sugar and whipped cream on top?
Lol. I think he meant Edmonton offer-sheet retaliation rumors...but then again, Army says he reads the fan boards and is heavily rumored by me to be Ranksu, so maybe you are in his cross-hairs

Not that it matters all too much to our cap structure, but it's interesting to me that his percentage is higher than Thomas' was when he signed his bridge. I wonder with those offersheets if we see league wide bridge deals going up a bit.

Regardless great move, no reason to rush into a long-term deal until both sides figure out where they are at. I'd imagine the next contract will be an 8 year contract for him. Can't really see the Blues having any desire to move on from Neighbors, seems to be loved by the staff, front office, players and fans.

Fair deal for both sides. I was worried that the RFA landscape would change and more of these guys would push to go to market so I'm happy to get this done.

Interested to see what happens to Joel Hofer.

Happy to get him signed. Honestly thought he started the first few games kind of slow but has since picked it up a bit. Now he has two more years to solidify himself as a core piece going forward.

Great deal. Now Hofer, please.

I don't see any reason for Hofer to sign a contract in the next couple months. If I were him, I'd need a pretty decent number to convince me not to try and increase my value over the course of the season. He's 3-0 while Binner is 1-3. His numbers are better than Binner's across the board and he already 'earned' himself an extra start with his play. Small sample sizes and all that, but from his perspective he has to believe that there is an opportunity to make this a legit tandem situation in net. I doubt we are offering to pay him like a tandem guy right now, so why not bet on yourself?
