Has Erat done anything noteworthy in his time as a Cap so far...?

Like I said a minute ago, he's been terrible tonight...

Maybe that Oates system will take him a few games to sort out.

Tiny sample size, on two different lines, probably a little sore to boot.

Consensus from everyone I heard was that he was just a good all around top 6 player.

Well I was just hoping he would bring something other than some nice skating and puck control seeing what we gave up and what we'll lose for him...

Do you just go in every thread and spew this crap.

One game back from injury and you know how he's going to play?

Forsberg has played 0 games, and you know he's going to be a star?

It isn't even the offseason, and you know how the cap situation is going to work out?

How about you get even an ounce of proof before you post the same crap in every thread.

Why don't they deserve it? They deserved to be winning 4-0 and 5-1, and then deserved to have Tampa tie it up. MaJo earned a PP with a great individual effort and Green finished it.

Basically, see the post right under yours. I mean, you're right, but there's no excuse for how lazily they fell apart in the 3rd.

They won the game, but you cant give up a 4 goal lead to a team like tampa.

True. All though Tampa I believe has the best offense in the league (even better than Pitt). Still, that needs to be fixed.

It was obvious they were sitting back. Once Tampa tied it the Caps had the puck the rest of the game. Just gotta keep pressing. There's a difference between folding in defensively, and playing more conservative.

Other than that, I liked the fact our secondary scoring looked great. Just can't sit back like that though. When they didn't sit back they looked pretty good.

2 points!

They started playing after Tampa tied the game. That tells me they were playing not to lose.

Also, not sure if its been said yet, but the fact they came back and won that game is huge mentally.

Also sucks Ovechkin is a -1.... Both goals he was on the ice for he was doing a good job... First one he ties up St Louis and knocks him down then goes out to cover the defense man and Backstrom also goes out way out and no one covers St Louis right by Holtby...

2nd one MoJo got beat by Purcell and Ovechkin nearly stopped it from going in...

They also earned that 5-1 lead. Not deserving a win is winning 1-0 in OT and getting dominated the whole game while having your All-World goaltender pitch a 30 save shut-out and get help from 3 or 4 posts, i.e. the Rangers tonight.

There's no excuse, but everyone knows how hard it is to maintain that intensity when you're up big. Tampa also got some ridiculous breaks their way; a 1-handed behind the back perfect deflection? C'mon. 1-in-a-million chance.

Favorite plays - Erskine knocking down St Lou with a minute left - a somewhat risky move.

MJ in overtime with almost a power forward move to crash the net.

On a side note, when a guy gets whacked in the face and get and we dont score on the ensuing PP, or the PP is negated with a ticky tack call, I get pissed.

Ugly but no impact w/ two points.

3 Purrutus
1) 85
2) The other guys on the line of mighty 85
3) Defensemen in the offensive zone

3 Convicts
1) Clearing the crease
2) Foot on the gas pedal
3) Clearing the zone (what else is new)

So much for clicking the quick link and I posted on the Tampa forum by mistake. Anyway I missed most of the game due to family stuff. What happened in the third? I was finally able to see the game when Tampa tied it and we win in OT. I'll take a win.

Lol the nhl network highlights were funny. When Tampa scored to tie it up their announcer sounded like he just won the lottery. Then when the Caps score he sounds like his dog died

If they don't pack up the tent after 2 periods, maybe they're not coasting and on their heels, and maybe Volpatti doesn't have to go down to block that shot.

The lesson is sometimes when you coast to "play it safe" and avoid injury, you end up getting hurt anyway.

NEVER, EVER LET OFF THE GAS.

I don't know what the Erat bashers are seeing that I'm not. He was pretty good at a lot of the little things, particularly along the boards and in transition. The guy can play.

I don't have a problem with Erat, the real issue is why trade a damn good prospect for an aging winger when we clearly have a bigger need.

He was good in Nashville too.
