If KK will no longer be a Ranger next season...shit, then I want this franchise to package him along with other players for a bonafide center.

What do you think Kaapo, Kreider, and a 3rd could fetch us?

Shit, now I'm eyeing Seguin.
Sequin is 30 and makes $9.8M per year. Might as well sign a free agent like Malkin if that's the road you want to take.

What bone headed response from Gallant about why Strome was allowed to play. “He wasn’t right from the first shift” yeah no shit dude, why’d you ok it then

Shades of arrogant AV with some of his responses to questions last night. Such a “I’m right and you can’t question me” attitude
I think he recognizes that he made a poor choice. It's not easy to admit that in the moment with the pain that fresh.

He also doesn't want to s*** on a player by giving an impulsive answer.

It's bad enough that the run came to an end, but it came to an end amidst drama and controversy and stupidity and stubbornness, with Ryan Bleeping Strome smack dab in the middle of all of it. I can't begin to understand pregame rushes with Kakko on the second line and obviously injured Strome on no line and then the game starts and its obviously injured Strome on the second line and Kakko on no line. If it really turns out that Kreider and Zib were extra mad at the end because of the coaching shitshow, I'd consider that a fireable offense.

And then GG scrambles all the lines for no real reason, but of course, of course, of course he doesn't touch the Strome/Panarin line.

Cool run, but the end just leaves a really sour taste. Gonna take some time to get over.

Tampa was always going to be the better 5v5 team. We very much knew that is an area that needed to be improved for next year, and the deadline additions were just trying to do patchwork. Refs swallowed the whistles after game 2 and it changed everything.

Tampa 2nd most penalized team in the NHL in the regular season, averaged nearly 4.5 penalties per game.

Mantra used to be that you needed elite special teams to win in the postseason, but evidently that doesn't matter as much
Interesting timing that the refs were told to swallow their whistles. Why the sudden change in philosophy?

He goes largely unnoticed but Justin Braun was elite last night defensively. He’s been steady since we acquired him. Happy we got him to the ECF, hope he stays another season.

K’Andre also has to be considered a future star at this point. There’s no way anyone can say otherwise, guy will be top 20 league wide

Also my apologies to Fil Chytil. I really thought he would be a liability in the playoffs and I advocated early for him to be scratched. He’s shown some incredible growth in the post-season and his two way performance last night was the best I’ve seen from him. Love how he just works and continues to surprise. I remember when he and Vitaly were sent down to Hartford in 2019. Vitaly sulked and stopped trying because he thought he was too good for the AHL. Chytil shut his mouth and dominated the AHL and had to be called up after 9 games because he showed he was above that league. Huge difference in mentality there even if I like Kravtsov still

Not buying Kakko sat for disciplinary reasons. He wouldn’t have been an option during the pregame if that was the case. He would have just been scratched.

Braun was a terrific add by Drury. Shame it took Gallant some time to realize it. He was what we hoped Nemeth would be.

He might have lipped off about the changed lines after Strome went back in. Probably went from warmup 2 to game 4. Instead of just disciplining himself and letting it go, GG scratched him. One of the top points on GG's job description is "Don't let the room become a shitshow five minutes before a Game 6 road elimination playoff game." Complete fail. Inexcusable.

Need to sign Braun at 1 year 1 mil, buyout Nemeth or pray someone takes him for cheap, and roll with

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Jones/Braun-Schneider
Braun/Jones

The fact that he’s a 2OA means he’s different than a third rounder though. Even if the production is not there, he has potential that a third rounder does not, ergo, he deserves more chances.

This is kind of logic I never understand. Kaprizov is a 5th rounder and you won't get one Kaprizov for the whole team of Kakko's.

Draft means something in the way management gives high pick players more chances to not be blamed for wasting those picks. Nail Yakupov played 350 NHL games, it's just crazy.

I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves with the speculation. We have zero idea what happened. There is no point in getting worked up over something we have no information whatsoever on.

I think I’ll go to the Met tomorrow after checking out a new brunch place in tribeca and walking by the Hudson in BPC. How about you Tampa fans? Back to cooking meth tomorrow? Or is it the strip club again?
As long as you're not bitter, have fun!

KK wasn't even full-out scratched; he dressed and warmed-up in a top 6 role. So anything "disciplinary" had to have resulted from something after he dressed.

It's possible that the plan all along was that if Strome was good to go, KK was going to sit but if that was the case, there would be no reason for GG to get all pissy with everyone -- he could just say "coaching decision" or utter the typical platitudes. Or just explain it -- "we were waiting to set the final lineup until we saw if Stromer was good to go, yadda yadda." GG's never a single time all year gotten pissy just because a question is asked.

But here something got him pissy and he didn't want to say anything about it, there's no question about that.

We may never know what the issue was.

We certainly didn't get any closure on the 'extra bullshit' that was hinted at regarding Quinn, the Wilson incident, or the DeAngelo incident.

Some of this stuff we just have to get used to not knowing.

This is what Gallant does. There’s a reason he never lasts more than a few seasons anywhere. He’s an asshole that doesn’t like to be questioned

Almost guaranteed what happened is the plan was to scratch Kakko but have him dress and be ready in the event Strome couldn’t go. Strome skated, was clearly not right, probably went into the back to get some sort of shot to dull the pain and he told Gallant he could go, and Gallant said ok. Hence Kakko getting scratched

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct one

Again, pure speculation, but Gallant had said earlier that he could see Strome was hurting from the first shift. It may well have been that it was a Kakko or Strome and Gallant was told Strome was more ready than he was… that would get you in a no comment mood.

I pray to God that Colorado wins and this is coming from someone who wanted to see Tampa 3 peat if it wasn't the Rangers. f*** Tampa.
If the Avs win I will be enjoying a bottle of Macallan 24 year with a good friend. Go Avs.
I think they just ran out of energy. If it wasn't for Igor TB easily would have scored 4+ goals that game.
20 games in 40 nights will do that to any team.
Big talk. This year was tremendous.
Yeah I honestly don't get the cup or nothing crowd. Why even be a fan? Fantastic season. Plenty of teams/fans would have killed for the season the Rangers had.

Anyways it was a great ride. Team took some steps this year and the playoffs have pointed out the things that need to be addressed. Might be a step back before they are in a spot to seriously contend, but I (never thought I would say this when he was hired) believe Drury has what it takes to build a perennial contender.

Definitely possible that GG got pissy because he felt railroaded somehow into playing Strome and then saw right away Strome couldn't play.(*) That could be bad info from the trainers, more likely bad info from Strome himself.

But if that's the case, there was nothing "disciplinary" about the KK scratch, and there seems to be some smoke out there that it was disciplinary.

(*) I'm not even sure it's an unwritten rule, maybe it is, but it sure seems like the idea with hurt guys is that if you tell the coach you're good to go, the coach defers to you and lets you go. That's all reliant, though, on the player telling the truth to the coach and being smart enough to do that. Would a player breaking that unwritten rule piss off a coach to that degree? Maybe. And that would explain the curt, "He wasn't ready to go from the first shift" from GG. (If there's one guy you'd put at the top of the list for either breaking the rule outright, or being too big a doofus to be able to tell if he really is good to go, it's Ryan Strome. Enjoy playing in Sun Devil Arena next year, Ryan.)

I’d keep Braun around on a other 1 year contract for sure as the 6-7 dman. Plays a very unnoticed game back there and for that role, that is exactly what you want.

Oh god, where is this disciplinary garbage coming from about KK? Did some poster just make that up now people are running with it? Kakko barely says 3 words all season, somehow I HIGHLY DOUBT that had a single thing to do with it. GG has always given Kakko the short end of the straw or whatever the term is.
