Those of us who have been proposing that Scheifele get some quality ice time have to feel , well that you know , that maybe some of us actually do know some hokey.

There is no reason that he doesn't get a full game in the top 6 with PP minutes game. He played well and I don't think that is debatable.

IMO there are not 3 centers on this team that would out produce him if he got the same shake. Plus he is part of the future and where is he going to develop better , February forward , here or in Barrie?

I know what I believe.

Positives:

Postma played solid. Got moved onto top pairing with Enstrom, looked real good.
Scheifele looked more comfortable and took some chances and attacked real well in the 3rd period moved between Ladd and Little. Hope to see more of that.

I think you can't overestimate how important this game was for getting Redmond, Postma and Scheifele comfortable out there. The ice time they got will pay dividends. Reminds me a bit of that game last year where after we'd been scoring 0-2 goals a game for a couple weeks, we were hammered 8-5 by the Penguins. We lost, it was embarrassing, but the five goals in a run-and-gun game got our scorers on track again.

:handclap:, probably the same guys suggesting Burmi as a top 6 despite the fact that he never does anything offensively, Burmi is a good defensive forward and that should be his role.

Overly simplistic view, but here goes:

I'm not going to ascribe this disaster of a game (and actually, this brutal three game stretch) to anything other than hilariously inept goaltending and a rash of stupid penalties. At the very worst, the Jets are holding their own at even strength. Heck, I'd go as far as saying they've held a slight edge at 5 on 5.

There's not a whole lot you can do when you're facing lengthy 5 on 3's right off the bat, and getting next to nothing in the way of key saves. The good news is that there's probably no way their PK and goaltending can play this poorly for an extended stretch. The bad news is that, if Noel doesn't get them settled down and somehow buoy their confidence, then improved discipline and goaltending may not matter.

Make no mistake, this is not a great team to begin with, and it's definitely not helped by the absence of Bogo and Buff. But to be honest, I don't think the Jets problems are as systemic and widespread as some might believe. Rather, there are specific problems that absolutely must be sorted out.

Bang on Hank:handclap:, Jets have been UNDISCIPLINED in the past three games and it cost them. That and some shaky goaltending and 0-3 is what you get.

I hate to bring this up at such a time, but my subconscious just reminded me of a post from the previous PGT:

Yes! Was thinking of this myself.

I hope somewhere, tonight, Damascus is not punching himself in the face.

The Jets are just not good defensively right now, either even strength or on the PK. This is not intended to bash Enstrom who was probably our top d-man tonight for what that is worth. But while he got 3 points he was -3...how can you win? And Pavs is just not playing anywhere close to a top end goalie.

My main issue.

Pavs has to be better, it doesn't matter what happens when we get Buff and Bogo back if the goaltending remains this way.

Enstrom played 25 minutes, aside from Hainsey who else can you really trust right now, on the last goal did you notice any of the forwards back-checking? Enstrom looked pissed off and rightly so.

Not sure why it took this team getting embaressed for a second straight game to get Noel to put him there. Anywase I hope Noel leaves Scheifele with Ladd and Little for the next game and sticks with it as it was the only forward line that did anything of note tonight.

I liked Scheifele's game tonight. Went to the dirty areas and was not afraid to take defenders on tonight which shows growing confidence. Had a couple of chances and moved the puck smartly on the transition. He also did a great job in the faceoff circle tonight.

Postma had a great game as well, he keeps this up and he may turn into a good second pairing dmen in the near future.

Agreed.

When I was looking at this season and next , the caveat was always that we would presume we got acceptable or better goaltending.

We haven't and this adds to the spotty play there last year . We'll see but if Pavelec plays like he did last year , we will be open to change at that position imo . That isn't a good thing.

I don't think we are disagreeing. This team has great offense from the back end as you can also add 3 points from Postma tonight. And I do think Toby was our best D tonight. But even when they get Bogo back they will need more than that. This team is just horrible right now in their own end.

If Pavs can't turn his game around by the mid point of this season I think the Jets need to seriously start looking elsewhere. That or at least bring in someone to challenge him as we've seen neither of the two M's are/were much of a threat.

Sorry Bogo, misread your post, yeah with a healthy Bogo, Enstrom and Buff the other guys still have to be at the top of their games as well for us to win.

Tampa Bay exposed our lack of depth.

I really hate to give up on Pavelic, but, clearly he is an average goalie.

Average goaltending will not win a Stanley Cup.

What disappointed me the most was the lack of emotion and lack of pride in the jersey.

We just quietly accepted our fate and played shinny for the rest of the game.

On the positive, I thought both Redmond and Postma played well.

Scheifele looked better at his natural center position.

Mike Smith could make a return to Wpg .

Kind of a joke , this one would be more welcomed.
