i watched the first 25 minutes of the game. Turned it off because A) at the point I didn't want my heart broken and B) sometimes you have to watch Crazy Stupid Love with your wife, instead of a regular season game. I did score watch though.

This was a very good win. It changes the narrative from 'losing 6 of last 7' to 'winning 2 of last 3'. Especially against Tampa / Vasilevskiy (Vasilevskiy has won 7 of 8 last games played vs us... going back to 2022).

Edit: the movie was entertaining. I don't need to watch it again but enjoyed it once.

I know people were saying it was going to be an excuse that the Devils were tired but they were exhausted in the third.

They were pumping their legs and working but they didn’t have the juice to have any jump. A lot of the puck fumbling comes from the same place, imo.

I don’t know if it was exhaustion as much as having to kill of 4 minutes in penalties to start the period allows the other team to control “field position.” Tampa is a good team who can not give it back.

Winning one game is not going to make me get over that trip. They put themselves way behind Washington and put themselves behind Carolina in pts% after building up a bit of a cushion and having the shot to really pull away from Carolina and compete with Washington. There's a lot of work to be done before my mood will fully change.

They gassed out these past two 3rd periods but the bulk of the past two games was them looking more like their usual selves.

Lot less of the slop we saw in California.

Getting to see the third in person, I really got to see how out of energy the team is. They were working and trying but you can’t create energy from nothing.

I think that’s why Keefe didn’t ride them too hard and mentioned the recharge in tonight’s pep talk; he could see the effort was there but the bodies were worn.
