And why would you post that? Book was written by a black man having black people in the series is fine.
Not to mention, if there's ONE place in Europe where there were definitely some black people in the 19th century, it was France. Also, there was at least one explicitly Black characters in the book.

Though I say that and if they made Albert black I'm stopping watching straight away.

EDIT : I saw who they made Black and that seems a like a f***ing terrible idea. Not "Albert-bad" of course, but not the greatest idea.

Idris Elba was a lost opportunity to play James Bond.

Some of the "diversity" casting are ridiculous, when they make historical figures look very different from how they looked IRL, but other than that who cares?

Northern Europeans are guilty of making Jesus looks like some rando French dude, he was from the Med, doubtful he looked like your typical Frenchman. Perhaps, he was truly Guy A. Lepage's twin, but the odds don't favor it.

Could have stopped there and left it open ended lol

In that specific case, Albert is the son of two people who are not black and whose ethnicity at least has some relevance to the plot. That filiation is also a pretty big plot point.

I was finally able to locate one of my all time favorite films from France, "Les Tontons Flingueurs", a 1963 comedy starring Lino Ventura. Must have been a good 10 years since I've seen it. A lot of great one liners and scenes that have stood the test of time.

LINK: Les Tontons flingueurs 1963

Background:

The day I give a shit who of what from where is cast in media will be my last.
can't believe some folks are still getting upset about diverse casting choices.

if you don't like it, you can always watch the original? it's not like it's being replaced :dunno: there have been like 4 previous Counts of Monte Cristo mentioned in this thread

Woops missed the just movies part. Plus my suggestion was a joke. Evangelion isn’t good vibes.

Errr…Star Trek og cast movies? I’m weird and like them all. Though I haven’t seen Generations which isn’t necessarily og.

Seven Samurai if you can do foreign films is almost 4 hours but totally flies by and you wouldn’t want to lose a frame. It’s as entertaining as any action/adventure movie ever yet it’s also a work of art.

It’s probably the best movie the entire world has ever produced. So many great samurai films. I feel like whether you’re a huge film nerd or just like entertaining movies you really can’t go wrong with that genre

I still need to see a bunch of these. Never seen Kieslowski’s Trois Couleurs but his Dekalog is also one of the best thing’s the world has ever produced tv or movie. It’s kind of both I guess.

Blood Simple is a great movie. The Cohen Bros. first and possibly their best. Need to rematch that.

Open Water stays with you long after you've watched it. Kind of Castaway meets Jaws...

That along with The Reef are probably the two best shark films out there after the grand daddy. They are similar to each other but Open Water is more raw whereas The Reef is more thrill based. Either way, great films. I would watch Open Water first.

Bubba HoTep is one of the most ridiculous movies ever made and absolutely everyone should watch it. Bruce Campbell is amazing - Army of Darkness is another hilarious one people should see but that one's a horror/comedy. Lots of over the top gore for comedic effect and it's so slapsticky... just an absolute riot.

I’m gonna get pilloried for this but I’ve never seen a Bruce Campbell film lol.

Not for any reason just out of having massive holes in my film nerdom. I should probably watch those evil deads. Bubba ho tep is on my list for years now
