And why would you post that? Book was written by a black man having black people in the series is fine.
Not to mention, if there's ONE place in Europe where there were definitely some black people in the 19th century, it was France. Also, there was at least one explicitly Black characters in the book.

Though I say that and if they made Albert black I'm stopping watching straight away.

EDIT : I saw who they made Black and that seems a like a f***ing terrible idea. Not "Albert-bad" of course, but not the greatest idea.

Idris Elba was a lost opportunity to play James Bond.

Some of the "diversity" casting are ridiculous, when they make historical figures look very different from how they looked IRL, but other than that who cares?

Northern Europeans are guilty of making Jesus looks like some rando French dude, he was from the Med, doubtful he looked like your typical Frenchman. Perhaps, he was truly Guy A. Lepage's twin, but the odds don't favor it.

In that specific case, Albert is the son of two people who are not black and whose ethnicity at least has some relevance to the plot. That filiation is also a pretty big plot point.

I was finally able to locate one of my all time favorite films from France, "Les Tontons Flingueurs", a 1963 comedy starring Lino Ventura. Must have been a good 10 years since I've seen it. A lot of great one liners and scenes that have stood the test of time.

LINK: Les Tontons flingueurs 1963

Background:

The day I give a shit who of what from where is cast in media will be my last.
can't believe some folks are still getting upset about diverse casting choices.

if you don't like it, you can always watch the original? it's not like it's being replaced :dunno: there have been like 4 previous Counts of Monte Cristo mentioned in this thread
