Showrunner says they will "go out with a bang" though. at least they knew of the cancellation ahead of time.
I never watched the show, but you're right, the third season is still going to air before it's all said and done.

And Jessica Jones.

Glad I didn't get into The Punisher and Jessica Jones, then.

What will this mean for Netflix, going forward? How much of their content is owned by Disney and will be repatriated?

Disney starting to pull some '' I wanna have everything''

This could turn down into a **** show

I love the netflix marvel series all of them
Hope they comeback

Disney may fail at some point. They're already failing on the Star Wars front and they might have trouble with their next Marvel movies (aside from Avengers)

On another note, I had seen an Umbrella trailer on netflix a week or two ago, I would watch the first episode tonight but I'm so tired right now

I think for those who know my posting history know I dig most things comic book related, though I actually dislike that label since really the comic book medium has everything from super powered heroes to non-super powered westerns. Basically, there isn't always a glowing blue thing.

Anyhow, getting back to my comic fandom, I actually was never too into anything Marvel TV. I liked S1 of Daredvil and I liked S1 of the Punisher. I know S1 of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage were well received but I never really got into them. I wasn't a fan of Iron Fist either. Agents of Shield is rather boring for me and the only DC Universe show I watch is Gotham, but that isn't great either (I am watching because this is the last season so I may as well see how it ends).

I think my problem with super hero shows is movies have spoiled me in terms of the spectacle. I get TV shows don't have the budget, but in some cases, the lack of budget is reflected in the writing itself. Shows I liked, such as Daredevil and Punisher have almost zero FX so it's not because I require ridiculous explosions and planets shattering.

That said, Umbrella Academy is on my list as is Titans and Doom Patrol. Amazon has a new show called The Boys and I enjoyed the first pilot episode. Watchmen is coming out as well.

As for what belongs to Disney, I think Netflix announced in 2019, that this is it. No Disney and Marvel films. I would assume the same applies to Fox properties such as X-Men, Deadpool and Fantastic Four.

More DC and Dark Horse shows instead of Marvel as we are presently seeing?

Lucifer, DC
Gotham, DC
Titans, DC
Umbrella Academy, Dark Horse

And a few others im forgetting

It's not like netflix or any other particular channel had a lot of star wars stuff either, because aside from the marvel franchises, what else is there in the adult category for disney? I mean, as big as those two?

This sounds like some big players want to play hardball with Netflix...before buying them? Disney? Apple?

I don't think even Apple can afford to buy Netflix (currently valued at 156B). We'd be talking close to a 200B price tag, and while Apple has about 240B in cash laying around, not sure they could swallow that.

Netflix will get bought off. Not sure about long term viability because of the cost of content. I mentioned Apple because it's the rumor floating around. But Disney could do it.

I do think that Netflix is there for the picking Their business model is one track-minded. Unsustainable.

I agree with you opinion of Netflix business model being unsustainable long term as content costs keep growing (by design) and its quality becoming to be more and more questionable (IMO).

This is why I'm not sure someone wants to absorb the company, at least the way things currently stand. It would've been easier to justify such acquisition 2-3 years earlier, but now that Netflix spends over 10B per year on content I'm not so sure there's "bang for the buck" to be had.

With Apple specifically, there's another issue should they choose to buy Netflix. The two companies differ drastically in their business models. Whereas Netflix culture being based on transparency and open information, Apple is the total opposite of that. This would create an image problem for Apple-owned Netflix resulting in a very difficult transition period post-acquisition IMO.

I started watching American Vandal which I actually am enjoying right now. I didn’t think I would but it’s a lot better than I expected it to be for a comedy.

Guessing you’ve watched it, but Mindhunter is an excellent show.

If you’re looking for a comic book series, The End of the F***ing World is supposed to be good. I haven’t seen it but my son loves it... but he is 14. That said, I think it’s well received critically.

I think you are both letting your bias against some of the shows offered by NF, get the best of you.

2 years ago I was reading the same hot takes, yet they are raking more profit almost each quarter than they ever did in any quarter.

We rarely get to see true mavericks upsetting the order of things. They usually do things a lot differently and people easily doubt and critic them.

Maybe in the end it won't work, but for now, and even though some of the things you mention are actually things the owner said, as they are trying to balance (ain't that what sustainability is about?) content, expenses, pricing and expansion, but for now I feel that your comment is just way too premature.

I think you're mistaking what is just difficult balancing out of a fast and ever increasing expansion.

It looks unsustainable because you've never seen anything like it.

Im a pirate and netflix actually managed to make a customer out of me again. That's a power you both do not seem to understand, or at the very least, highly underrate in your outlook of their future.

Dc has now their stream service too.. that's where Titans was shown first, If i'm not wrong... Now I'm not saying it will be a major player... but maybe it will eventually stop to be on Netflix.

I don't worry... There is a lot of material out there if Netflix want to keep playing on the known universe Card... Lots of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Drama, Thriller novels that could make great shows... I think that Netflix should have their own " universes"... I believe that's what they are trying with Altered Carbon, Nightflyer and The Witcher...

Well, True Detective Season 3 has been WAAAAAY better than that Joke of a season 2 at least

There's a great scene between the "old men" characters of Mahershala ali and Stephen Dorf in Episode 5, and i gotta say, as amazing as Mahershala Ali IS just by himself outside the show, he has been raising the bar constantly throughout Season 3, BUT Stephen Dorf is hanging IN there remarkably
And that is NOT easy next to Mahershala Ali, just watch Green Book and it takes a Viggo Mortensen next level to compete with Ali lol

Theyve definitely done a better job of getting back to that Season 1 Vibe, and Ali has just been terrific, mind blowing even. But im happy for my boy Dorf hanging in there too
