I honestly think that the only prospect we gave up that could make us regret it is Gil; I think he could be an above-average infielder. Montero, while I like his bat, had trouble in Double-A and will likely be limited to first base. Locey's fastball is great, but I doubt he's more than a power reliever. Gomber would've been a solid starter, but Coors tends to kill curveballs, and Gomber relies on his curveball, which is normally pretty good. Sommers is a shot in the dark.
I'm happy that we kept Torres and Rondon, and Woodford could end up being solid as well if he plays up to his potential. And I don't know about y'all, but if/when he's ready next year or two, I'd play Gorman in left, get a solid left-handed bat in the lineup.
I'm also hoping Yadi re-signs. I'm praying for a DH so that we can get Carpenter's bat in the lineup, if he ever regains his form. Imagine this lineup:
1. Matt Carpenter (DH)
2. Dylan Carlson (RF)
3. Nolan Arenado (3B)
4. Paul Goldschmidt (1B)
5. Paul DeJong (SS)
6. Yadier Molina (C)
7. Tyler O'Neill (LF)
8. Harrison Bader (CF)
9. Tommy Edman (2B)
How does that sound?
