oh thats not what Im saying, Drai is a top 5 player maybe even top 3. just I dont know how your points dont get inflated a little playing with the best player in the world even if its just on the PP> its just going to result in higher point totals. does Drai need him though? no for sure he doesnt

no player is perfect, even McDavid has areas he can work on. like faceoffs lol

Of course you aren't wrong, any player would benefit from any playing time they get with McD, but very few can provide a benefit TO McDavid.

... but that's not where people get perturbed by your line of logic. It's that the logic is applied inconsistently insofar as it's never brought up for Rantanen or Mackinnon or any other of the power duos in the league.

... and that's what shows the strong bias.

Drai with 2 more points, both shared with McD, on ice together for 3 goals-for and 4 goals-against. There is McJesus factor, question is how big is it.

Great game, felt like ploffs...

Have you even watched the game and what are you trying to say?
Drai played good, even better than McD which applies to most of the games this year.
I am also sure he wasn't on the ice for so many goals this year as in this one...and I didn't see any failure defensively in this one...just poor goaltending/defense when I look at the Reinhart goal.

So what is the context of your post?
It's like saying something and don't know why or for what it is...Drai is carrying the team this year...I think McD will follow come playoff time (hopefully)

I am not 100% on this, but I am pretty sure that on 2 of those goals against last night, Drai had just stepped on the ice as part of a line change, when the Panthers scored, so there was really nothing he could do about it.

However, I usually prefer him on a separate line away from McDavid. When they play together, their individual defensive performance seems to suffer. I have no data to support that, but I believe they are both better when they are not playing together.

Yeah that's right and as I see this also.

I was referring to another guy which seems to judge on one game out of 82 to support something he isnt even sure himself :)

This year Drai on is own line is and was awesome especially the games without McD when he is the go to guy.

I actually noticed Draisaitl last night, honestly thought he was injured the whole Stanley Cup final.
The Panthers do that to a lot of first liners.

Don't bother with those people. 😆. They get their news from seething HF members. If Drai was pumping points with their squad, they'd be running around here with a superman cape on

As an Oiler fan who moved East, I can confidently verify that nobody out East watches West-coast games. These games mostly start at 10pm and end past midnight. And like 90% of them are blacked out anyways.

Here's a quick recap:
Anyone who scores over 90 points is "terrible defensively". They will never watch a game, but 90+ points = terrible defensively. Even if the data doesn't support their claim, they'll pull up off random stats, or keep digging and gerrymandering data till it points to the narrative they claim.

On the flip side:
Every forward who has 60 points is amazing defensively. They don't need to back it up, they'll live and die on that hill.

90 point forward - terrible defensively
60 point forward - amazing defensively

Bunch of Cherry picking empty-net merchants, who get all their points on the PowerPlay:

And here's all the defensively reliable workhorses, who put the team ahead of their personal stats, and rarely ever cross into the offensive zone, score all their points at ES, and take almost all the defensive zone draws, and win all the Selkes:
