I feel way more comfortable as a fan when I see Pickard in net. I don’t think he’s a starter though. Just a hell of a good back up goalie. It just goes to show how truly bad Stuart Skinner is…dude should be shot into the sun

It’s not even like Pickard has been particularly good either. He had what… an .875 going into tonight?

Need one of these two to put together more than 1 or 2 good games before shutting the bed in the next 2.

Edit: just checked the stats again. My mistake. Pickards only had the one bad game. Yeah… give him some rope

Drai goes beastmode! Team looked good! Nashville was brutal tbh but Oilers played well and deserve praise for that game. The Philp Perry Caguila line was dangerous as was Drai’s line. Feels Goodman!

Hey I'm a bit late to the party of course.

But it's great to see a few things.

Oilers getting a commanding victory with Connor out, Drai leading the charge to such victory. And also, which I feel as just as important as anything, Hyman getting a goal to break his slump as well. May this open the gates to a cavalcade of Hyman goals!!!!!

Now to rock out n flood the radio airwaves with some f***ing metal!!!!!!

Great start. Play with the lead. Draisaitl stepped up huge to lead the way. Oil played with high compete and energy with 20 hits tonight. Adding some grease to the Oil is good for their game. Liked the team defending support largely angled the Predators outside and Janmark with a beauty track back to prevent a goal.

Better details in their game. Thought Emberson had a sneaky solid game. Perry was real good and worked well with the Bako Boys.

This game gave out some optimism. Hyman is going to score 10+ goals over the next ~6 games. Or something in that spirit. Drai will play well without McDavid again and the "he's propped up" haters will predictably ignore the evidence.

I don't think many teams can say their

Art Ross winner
Hart Trophy winner
Ted Lindsay winner

Is replaced by their

Art Ross winner
Hart Trophy winner
Ted Lindsay winner
The thing is we still have one of the best centres in the league in as a top line center. Our top 6 is still insane without McDavid just a matter of time before they all get going.

Picks' stats really are just skewed because of that bad Chicago game and coming in to relieve Skinner in the Winnipeg game. He's been solid and more consistent than Skinner. Skinner is capable of being good, but if he can never find the consistent middle ground he will continue to hold this team back. Just can't have a guy who has only two potential games. Really good and really f***ing bad. Needs to be able to give them a lot more average starts and a lot fewer really f***ing bad starts.

We're actually missing one of our top 6 wingers as well. You can make a pretty good argument that Kane is a better 5v5 top 6 LW than Nuge at this point. Think Nuge should move down to play with Henrique when he returns, which by the sounds of it could be earlier than expected. I'd love to have a big fast physical winger on each of our top 2 lines. Come playoff time having that type of player with our skilled guys creates so many opportunistic turnovers that can completely change the momentum of a game. I also think Nuge might actually work well with Henrique and Skinner. Feel like that could be a really good 3rd line.

I still think at everyone’s best Kane is our 3rd best forward

Calling it now that Janmark-Philp-Brown could be this year's Janmark-Henrique-Brown when playoffs roll around. Philp's youth and skating just seems like a better fit with those two than Henrique who I think will be a valuable complementary piece, but he just doesn't have the skating anymore to carry a line. I'd honestly consider moving RNH back to centre and running Henrique on his wing. He had some good moments in that role as a scoring winger last year. Just not sure the foot speed is there anymore to be the shutdown 2-way 3C, but he can be a good 2-way winger that can still score if you get him the puck in the danger areas.

A healthy Kane is definitely a weapon, and especially come playoff time. Would be a toss up between him and Hyman for me. When Hyman's on he gets a lot of good things done on the ice, and while his numbers get inflated a bit from McDavid, he's getting a lot of those numbers because of the other things he does to support McDavid.

Arvidsson and Skinner have also both been very nice adds. Their numbers don't reflect it right now largely because the entire team slumped to score the first 10 games of the year, but you can see its coming with Arvidsson and the way he's starting to gel with Drai. Skinner has shown a lot of good spurts throughout the year so far, but we still haven't exactly found him the best fit in terms of line chemistry. Hoping when McDavid's back we get to see a little more of him with Henrique and Nuge. He likes to carry pucks a lot which I think fits better with Nuge+Henrique than it does with McDavid or Draisaitl who should be the primary puck carrier on their lines.

I'm coming to terms with the fact that Janmark and Brown just might be 4th liners at this point who can elevate their game in the playoffs, which is honestly perfectly fine when Philp is on the 4th line and when Kane fills the other top 9 spot.
