Leevi Once Ullmark Is Back?

Oh, of course that would be option one... But, say Leevi got hurt too, then we're in a real pickle.

The Forsberg situation is tricky because he is better than the random journeymen goalies that they could grab via trade tomorrow without giving up assets, but they clearly don't think he is good enough to play for them.

I get that playing Merilainen as they did looks brilliant in hindsight, but it was fairly unprecedented to play a 22 year old 3 out of 4 nights (including a back-to-back) because he looked solid in a few outings, and then had a fantastic game. The point being, I would guess thinking they can't win with Forsberg had to play into taking that risk.

Even earlier in the season, it seemed like they were begging for Sogaard to be passable and take the job, but he dropped the ball.

You also have to keep in mind that if we get to the point where Ullmark is back, it would take two injuries before we even get to our third goalie. By the time that happens, we will be closer to the TDL, and the market might open up a bit for goalies. The way I see it is that if we get into a wild card position and both Ullmark and Merilainen go down, we are probably giving up assets for a legitimate goalie regardless of whether we have Forsberg or not.

He will be sent down. We live in a cap world.
I'm confused, which situation uses more of our cap? Keeping Forsberg in Ottawa and sending Merilainen down, or the opposite? The amount of cap we bury if Forsberg is sent down is larger than the amount we pay Merilainen, no?
