Javale McGee was good in the Warriors system, he cashed in on 2 rings!

He is good in sporadic minutes. Unfortunately I don't see that happening in LA.

Also, has LeBron stalker Brian Windhorst confirmed yet that the Lakers are required to hire Damon Jones upon signing LeBron?

Too bad Lakers won 2 whole more games than Cavs did the year before they added Bron and Love... and they were always clearly worse than the Durant Warriors. If he wanted to win a title to add to his legacy, he should have picked a better team. Unless they get Kawhi too, Lakers aren't even close to Warriors/Rockets level. But there goes the "not having other stars to play with" part.

Again... this has as much to do with his business and personal life. More rings would be nice sure, but he wants to become more than a basketball player and its a lot easier to do that in LA. His family also had a lot of input and after living there in the summer the last couple years I'm going to assume they really enjoy living there, also a lot of good teams for his kids to play on.

Lebron is the de facto GM now, if he wants someone gone, they're gone.

Disagree, he committed to 4 years, possibly. Magic will obviously take his input but he won't be able to hold them hostage like he did w/ Gilbert. & I think he trust Buss/Magic/Pelinka a lot more than Gilbert.

it's been a joke for a long time

Since Boston started the super team era pretty much. Even before that too, you look at the time between MJ''s last title and when LeBron started his finals streak, only the Pistons and C's won during that time.

It honestly would change very little. He has nothing left to prove.

Agreed but winning a title for/with the Lakers as the top guy is one of the best things you can accomplish in the sport. Plus he'd be the only player to ever lead 3 teams to a championship.

*well two other players have done it, but the first to be a significant factor.

LeBron and Lance together.

I honestly think they did this so Lance can't get in his head on a. different team.

Lebron got them a ring, I’m sure they are fine. Now the Cavs are back in the lottery, they will not be a contender for a long time.

Exactly - in 2010 I get why fans were pissed but after they won in 2016 he got a get-out-of-The Land-free card. & at least he's going to the opposite conference.

I wonder if Dan Gilbert will write another cringeworthy letter in comic sans again.

I think he realized how stupid that and him look and besides, he's got a diamond plated ring now. He'll be fine.

one of the best parts about this is that dan gilbert is watching the lakers rise back up to the top with lebron while the cavs are about to disappear into the cellar for years to come

basketball reasons

On another note, seeing as no one is talking about Cleveland, they have their forum on lockdown. Hopefully they're handling things better than the previous departure.
Some of them aren't upset he left but because he signed a 4-year deal with the Lakers after refusing to do that with the Cavs. It was always option years.

I never wanted him to leave Cleveland (they are my second favourite, I guess) but it was always a circus in the offseason with his contract and how long he was going to stick around. I'm sure there is a lot of truth to the rumour that Gilbert feels like he'll be getting his team back now that James is off the roster.

He's literally never trusted Gilbert (can't blame him, seeing as he's never extended a GMs contract) and in 2014 he made amends for the sake of his hometown. Hence why he always did the 1 year contracts (part of it was to maximize his earnings)

Great move. LeBron is bigger than the game and the Lakeshow are bigger than the NBA. Perfect fit for both sides

I actually like the Lance Stephenson signing. I think he'll work very well with LeBron. I see people comparing him to J.R. Smith but honestly, if anyone is going to be the JR of the Lakers, it's KCP and his never ending quest to jack up as many 3's as humanly possible.

i'm fine with the stephenson signing. he's a no-nonsense, tough, gritty player who's shown he's not afraid to step up in big moments

and with lebron around, i don't expect KCP to be chucking 3s like he did last season

Marks was saying earlier how Lakers will have a tough time adding anyone worth mentioning unless they find a taker for Deng and even then it'll take multiple 1st's.
