I’m trying to help, just a fan voice. He’s a good bartender but a terrible D.J. What he’s serving I like, his hockey is excellent for the eyeballs. Andlauer brings an atmosphere around the team I find is fuzzy, the arena stuff is a constant nightmare, talking about the 1st round pick all the time, the OHL stuff I just found weird and you need a phoney hat to explain it to us why does this have to be weird it’s just an OHL team going to a good Canadian family shouldn’t need a map and a numbered hat to figure out why, and I found he committed the fat-head cardinal sin he came down from Toronto to tell us how great it is - don’t feel sorry for the city of Ottawa because Ottawa doesn’t need a hand up from Toronto, Toronto needs to stop taking itself so seriously it’s just a big city with nothing else going on, it has nothing to brag about except shits open late. The reason it could shut down for Taylor is because there’s nothing going on that matters, you can just shut it down in the middle of the day and nothing happens. it’s just 4 million people crammed together in small apartments who have better take out options then you, it’s not special. I love what Green and Staois and everyone below those two is doing, I find Andlauer is trying to be someone he’s not. He’s just a kid from NDG who bought a hockey team somehow, that’s enough for me just give it to me straight and Ottawa doesn’t need help from Toronto being something it doesn’t want to be.

What I would like is a franchise that doesn’t seem to living on a cliff edge all the time. check out being a Hab’s fan, theres not a constant drip off storm clouds with that team. There tons of drama around the team but it’s not board room stuff, you never hear about boardroom in Winnipeg or Vancouver, Ottawa the Sens boardroom is always there being played out by the owner. bad boardroom news…I don’t want to hear about it. just Buy private land and just build an arena there illegally the fans will understand Andlauers from Montreal use your mob connections to build it and the traffic cops can’t stop a determined construction team it’ll all over over by next winter
The 1st round pick gets brought up as a message to Betteman. The Arena gets brought up because he is constantly asked about it as irs been an issue for 8 years.

The Federal Government is effectively frozen until about June due to prorogation and the election that is almost guaranteed to be called for May.

Very little can happen for the first half of 2025.

Municipal election in 2026 could delay things with the City if the Sens take too long to pivot. Andlauer is operating from a strong position now but that diminishes the deeper we get into 2025 if the NCC drops out and he ends up with one suitor, and campaign season looming at City Hall.

He needs to get a back room contingency plan going with Sutcliffe asap and then put his own deadline to the NCC, August 1st 2025 as the PR machine and season ticket drive is gathering steam before training camp, a clean 6 months from now.

If the Sens change course on August 1st and ditch the NCC Sutcliffe will then have a full year to do all the right things and get shovels in the ground so that he can campaign around the project. All the while Andlauer benefits from the pressure that Sutcliffe creates for himself to have the project as far along as possible before election night. In return, Andlauer waxes praise on the partnership with the City right through the campaign and peaking at puck drop on the season which I think coincides with election time.

Make it happen MA!

I hear a lot from the ownership group and they are not happy or impressed with the NCC dealings. They have whispered to me that they have closed so many much bigger land deals in their past that this one is becoming a thorn on their side. They also said that they do not mind if this takes up to the end of this year or 2026 to close as their financing rates will drop substantially. They will just continue to accumulate funds until this is done.

In the past, the dealing between the Ottawa Senators and the NCC were frustrating….. and many people tended to place the blame on the Sens ownership….. it was after all the fashionable thing to do.

There was a vocal minority that suggested, given their track record, that the bulk of the blame was clearly on the shoulders of the NCC….. IF they were in the private sector and had to answer to investors… they would have gone out of business many decades ago….. but it seems they don’t answer to anyone, less of all taxpayers.

It is not too much of stretch to say that today, many more are coming around to the fact that the NCC, as it has operated over the past number of decades, needs to be completely overhauled…. Even though the current head, a former city councillor suggested he would do exactly that…. But once he acquired the job, it’s the same old same old.

The current ownership group has plenty of local members, and they should be making these facts clear to the majority owner, and they should be seriously looking at alternatives, whether that is Bayview or elsewhere…. A plan B is needed, if only to hurry along the glacial pace of the NCC, if in fact that site it the preferred location….

the NCC is offering a plot of land, probably worth 100-200 million, and 200-300 million for clean up.

That means
1) 100-200 million of saving on a piece of land for Andlauer
2) 200-300 million to the Ottawa economy, for construction work on the cleanup portion alone. That 200-300 million is federal dollars, all 41 million Canadians will drop that money to employ us in Ottawa

So... measure any option plan B against that!!!!!!

Doug Ford has already told us to; Go f*** ourselves... He has almost 50 billion in infrastructure for the GTA the next 10 years.. He wants a tunnel below Toronto to alleviate traffic!!!!! and so on.

The city of Ottawa does not have a pot to piss in....

That leaves Uncle Justin and Federal dollars...

So Michael A. has to learn to be patient.. Put up with the shit. Or drop 1-2 million on Doug Fords party/campaign and then things may loosen up. Or, Maybe Michael A. can remove Mona Ambrose from his Board, if he wants Uncle Justin and the heavily Liberal party controlled NCC to act. Or, maybe Michael A. needs to make a nice 1-2 million dollar donation to the Liberal party.

Does the NCC even want an arena on Lebreton? They seem more interested in museums and parks than an arena and commercial area.
