Being a Sens fan is like being a child in a Family where 1 parent is doing everything they can to help your life and the other parent is doing nothing to help you grow and be happy.

Here we are on the verge of something good, and all the background noise is “season ticket base is not good enough, arena thing is a bit of a f*** show”

We went 1 year without hockey in the lockout and when it was over the Sens responded the day after the lock out ended with literally the exact same headlines 20 years ago after we had a full season of hockey taken from us. That was 20 years ago and we are still dealing with this shit. They never give it break. We are never more then days away reminder that “Sens ticket base is poor, arena old, arena bad, things might not ever improve”

The Sens organization is addicted to their welfare mentality and having a permanent beam of uncertainty and chaos over their brand. Every owner, every year, every f***ing news cycle as a Sens fan is like having one person trying to get you to be happy and another person making you think happiness is hopeless.

f*** off with your sad as headlines. Get your shit together we don’t care. You are all millionaires watching hockey for free go f*** yourself and let us enjoy our team that you guys have completely f***ed up.

Dave Chapelle has a funny bit about a parent sending their kid to school but before they do telling the kid they are late on their bills and they may lose their house but go along and enjoy your day - this is Sens management and media in a nutshell.

I don't understand your argument. For a sports team to be successful, it needs to be supported by the fans. The owner is spending to the limit and ticket sales are below average, but you don't want to be bothered with that news because it stresses you out? Is that it?

This is not surprising. What billionaire on this planet is going to spend Billions to build a state of the art facility on rented land and have to conform to all NCC regulations regarding upkeep, maintenance etc......not one. This is a stupid deal being pushed on to not stupid people.
These guys want to purchase land. Period.
I can't stand the NCC. The people that fangirl over them for building a $10m temporary 10 table bistro are even worse

Because it's a bit of a misnomer. Ticket sales are below average, yet the fans in the area buy a higher than average number of single and season tickets.

The joys of living in a government town where over half the businesses can't buy tickets to wine and dine government and government adjacent clients. Ottawa will always be a market that has one hand tied behind it's back.

NCC are a bunch of radical lefties that are putting agenda first over making a good deal for both sides.

Holding up the deal it’s requirements of having the arena built using green materials forcing Andlauer and everyone else to pay more.

Another issue is that they want fans dependent on unreliable shitty public transportation where Andlauer has massive concerns and rightfully so.

As much as I would love having a rink at Lebreton, I am really coming around to the notion of tearing down L'Esplanade Laurier, breaking up the grid a bit, and landing the rink right on Bank St.

It's a stones throw from Parliament, Elgin, and Sparks. Parliament Station is 3 blocks away.

I've mentioned before, my preference would be the ability to choose live music, a dive bar, a fancy bar, whatever - I just want to fall out the front door of the rink and waltz into one of those place to celebrate or down my sorrows

Couldn't agree more.

It's a huge lift, but I say, be bold!

Perfect. Let’s end the debate and get this thing done once and for all. Not many cities the size of Ottawa have a chance to develop a parcel of land that big right downtown
This is NOT the “City” developing this parcel of land…. It is the NCC that is developing this land…. And their track record speaks for itself.

I moved to Ottawa over 40 years ago, and the NCC would lose a drag race with a snail, in terms of the development of Lebreton Flats

The NCC isn't developing squat, they are just leasing out the land for someone else to develop, likely in partnership with the city. The NCC will obviously put some red tape up in the way, but they aren't the ones developing the land.

While true, you aren’t getting the lease, unless your vision aligns with theirs.
Yes there will be additional layers of red tape with LeBreton.

Let's be honest with ourselves, the best outcome is that this falls through and Andlauer starts dealing with the City on a plan for one of their sites, such as Bayview yards.

Full stop, the Sens need to own their own arena and have complete control of all the additional revenue streams that come from developing on their own blank canvas.

The quicker we move away from dealing with the NCC the quicker we get our arena and the longer it will remain a great home for the team. Anyone who thinks having the federal government as our landlord is a good long term idea needs to pull their head out of the sand.

Lebreton and Bayview do not make sense. Trainyards is the best spot imo. Easy access to the Queensway, lots of parking, LRT station, and VIA rail. On game day you could have a VIA train leave Brockville, pass through Smith Falls, and Barrhaven to the train station in about an hour. Going east you could do the same from Cassleman in about half the time. This would encourage people from outside the city to have an easier and more comfortable commute on game days, no traffic. Could be a perk for season ticket holders and a discounted train ticket for single day tickets.

Well it’s not the City, developing the land either…. Whomever is tasked with developing the land, at Lebreton, will be dealing primarily with the NCC first, and perhaps the City in a minor role …. They will be building on Federally controlled land, NOT municipal land….. one only has to look at the condo building built a decade ago to see what happens when the NCC is involved….. it looks like North Korea won the design competition

These are all good points…. The only negative is that the Trainyards are not convenient for residents of Gatineau, as Lebreton would be, and that seems to be a priority for the Majority owner.

Some definite pros to that site, but in terms of game day experience there isn't much if anything there within walking distance which is one of the major drawbacks to the current arena site.
