Chipman?I'm excited for the season.
I think the Jets will sneak into the playoffs so long as they ship out the one remaining liability on the team.

Arena announcer must be high up on the list of liabilities.Chipman?
Season 13 in the Chevy regime and the usual borderline team, undersized D, 3-4 legit top 6 forwards, 2 -4th lines and a top rate netminder to mask a mediocre team and to buy Chevy yet another year of dithering!Anyone else not particularly excited about the start of the season?
Can't say Chevy isn't consistent.Season 13 in the Chevy regime and the usual borderline team, undersized D, 3-4 legit top 6 forwards, 2 -4th lines and a top rate netminder to mask a mediocre team and to buy Chevy yet another year of dithering!
I’m always excited with a new season. I think our forward depth has taken a huge step forward. Also happy that ownership and management have decided on a direction of win now. I think we surprise a lot of people.
This isn't Highlander. There can't be only one.I'm excited for the season.

Agreed!I think it's more than half full
This reminds me, my truck needs an oil change.
And that's a very bad pour too. This reminds me, my truck needs an oil change.
I think that's the difference between having a young team and a more veteran one. Young teams generally perform better in the preseason while vet teams just go through it, try to work on things and not worry about winning a meaningless game (and not get hurt).Reasonably excited. I mean, it's nice that considering everything that has happened the Jets are still regarded as a solid playoff team (even if that means qualifying in a wild card spot).
But I'm not gonna lie, some of the later preseason games were utterly tedious even by preseason standards and did not exactly whet my appetite for more...
Who do you mean, the PA guy or the arena host guy? I think both are pretty great, though I understand that Brody's delivery might not be exactly a match for the typical arena host type.Arena announcer must be high up on the list of liabilities.
Man there is so much to pick apart in this post.Excited? No, bc this team doesn’t have the talent to go far or deep in the playoffs. Another year of mushy middle of the pack crappy results Around the playoff bubble.
Interested? Yes, to see how certain players do this year and how Mark & Helle get resolved.

Winning a championship is a team affair. Plenty of teams have won on systems, play style, discipline.
The Jets really don't have a glaring weakness in this roster. Yes, the D could be a bit stronger but it's not bad and last years stats proved that out.
My biggest concern is Connor Hellebuyck. Outside of a few series, he has not shown that he can maintain a play level to win 4 rounds in the playoffs. Your goalie is the number one factor in winning a cup. Whether that is because he plays too much in the regular season is worth exploring. I sure hope that Bro get's at least 25 starts this year.
Teams that are stuffed with talent, the team type that you drool over, tend to tear it up in the regular season (which of course is fun to watch) but that is zero guarantee of winning anything when it matters.
I'd rather have a disciplined team that plays effective systems to a T, have a great goalie and some elite finishing talent to capitalize when you get opportunities. That, in my mind, is the perfect team built to win the cup. I think we're pretty damned close to that.
I can't remember the player who recently said it, but he said that Bowness is teaching the team to play in a way where everyone looks the same - in the sense that they are all dedicated to the system and execute it with precision and consistency. Some may not like that - but a team like that absorbs injury better and as long as the systems are good will have predictably better results.
The Jets finished last season very strongly.Ok we can disagree, imo your post is looking very optimistic considering last years result…….plus you didn’t even address 50% of my comment which is Mark and helle. Time will tell, I’m not holding my breath on any deep playoff run, will see who’s right soon.
I agree, team will do well. The Jets finished last season very strongly.
It's hard to assess their playoff performance vs. the Cup champs because of the injuries to their top C, a top winger (Ehlers), and their Norris candidate on D.
This Jets team isn't in the very top tier, but it is in the top 10-12 of the league, and has the cap space to add significantly at the TDL, if the team is performing well.
Yes! As long as he let’s Chipper in the room when he wants. Can't say Chevy isn't consistent.

The second half need to be assessed. Dressing room or other issues? Team defence in first half was marvellous.Last year's result?
The team looked like world beaters in the first half - the offense inexplicably dried up in the second half (players who are extremely consistent producers struggling). The team bounced back heading into the playoffs and then lost their #1 defenseman and #1 forward while playing the eventual cup champs that steamrolled practically everyone. Hellebuyck was decidedly average in that series as well.
As for the "50% of your post" you mention, how 55 and 37 are resolved are not exactly germaine to how this season will shake down. IF the Jets are doing well or fighting for a playoff spot, they will be here, and fighting for their legacy contract. I'd want my two best players with that incentive all season long.
