Frederick Gauthier up full time, Smith gtfo.

Two Frederik's on the team is what Toronto needs.

Toronto needs to expose two forwards in the Expansion Draft that have played 70/40 games in the last 2/1 years. Smith has to play 9 more games to qualify.

Why do you think they will sign him? Plus, doesn't he have to be signed for 2 years, to be eligible? Also, isn't the draft before July 1st? Why would Smith sign a one year deal so early? (I realize he sucks and nobody's break down his door but still). Why not just extend him now, if that's the case?

We have to expose 2 forwards that meet the exposure requirements:

under contract in 2017-18, AND
played in 40 or more NHL games last season, OR
played in 70 or more NHL games in the last two seasons

Right now we only have 5F that meet this requirement: Kadri, JVR, Bozak, Komarov, Martin. So we would have to expose two of them. An easy alternative is signing Smith for another year (giving him league minimum or whatever) and exposing him then burying him on the Marlies or Robidas Island.

Its just a theory. Maybe we trade for some vets at the deadline to expose.

I know its still early but

Ridiculous that second in Atlantic and last in East is separated by 6pts though.... Love our games in hand and our teams resilience though so these last 30 games should be pretty great.

Does he still count if he's a UFA at the end of the year? Thought the exposed player must still be on a contract for next year.

Was good on the PK and I don't think he iced the puck tonight can anyone confirm?

I know man. And Stu is really tdoing his thang here. Polak is on his game making our PK better and all. Bockkinng and hitting thangs. Babcock knows this and plays the game. Polak won it. Leafs won it. 3-1 it is. Good home game by our rear ends. Mcellenney makes it.

Babcock still might go with the number one kahuna andersen thurday. Cause it's right thurr.

hmmm...

Habs are getting blanked by the AVS 3-0 so far and we could be 8 points behind with 3 games in hand.

Tampa won again and are in last place with 54! points.

Its so close in the east.

I have to say. I think a lot of yesterdays game had to be faulted on the ice. no one looked comfortable skating, hell even trying to move the puck. it has to be unsettling thinking that you can lose a edge and be injured . when the nhl and nhlpa are doing a joint investigation in to the ice conditions its bad.

todays game was good. they did what they needed. a lot of dallas shots were perimeter low % shots. the team did good boxing out and clearing. cmac did his job to a t. good for him to get his first win in t.o

True, but he is a liability on the ice, don't really need more anchors playing in the crucial point of the season, especially with the way Toronto is playing in recent weeks.

McBackup did all right but got they got plenty of chances around the net. We did better to clear those chances but still very scary.

You go back to your #1 guy next game, no questions. He'll get plenty of games down the stretch. We have a ton of back to backs.

Just imagine if the realignment somehow placed the Leafs in the Metropolitan, that would be horrendous. Being in the Atlantic all we really have to worry about now is the Bruins and Panthers and maybe the Bolts if they get hot down the stretch. Playoffs is certainly possible.

Yea, why not Laich

For what we need him for, he's can't be worse than Smith, can he?

He would add some veteran leadership too, more you think about it wtf. Maybe once Smith gets his games in we see a change.

He was actually awesome tonight, really calm, good economy of movement, stayed in his stance, very impressive.
