Heres a fun stat:

5v5 D The first 30 games of the season:

Shots allowed/60: 24th fewest in the NHL
High danger chances allowed/60: 28th lowest in the NHL
xGA/60: 26th lowest in the NHL
Goals Allowed/60: 24th fewest in hte NHL

The last 24 games:

Shots allowed/60: Fewest in the NHL
High danger chances allowed/60: 5th fewest in the NHL
xGA/60: 8th lowest in the NHL
Goals Allowed/60: 5th fewest in the NHL

The Leafs went from a bottom ten defensive team to an arguably top 5 one in the league (and more in line with the last few years).
I live your stats, but if the stats is 24th fewest, can you just say 9th most instead.

Exactly. All the doom mongers trying to scare people because we moved from Kyle to Brad are just flat out wrong.

Knies Matthews Marner
Tavares Domi Nylander
Bertuzzi Holmberg Robertson
McMcann Kampf Gregor

It's almost like a really good team just had a slow start to the season.

I don’t like the quote either. More heinous things have happened to actual players on this team, yet the final straw is this? It’s weird.

I'm not naive enough to think this will be the permanent change in attitude many of us have wanted, but if it was, I dont really care how it happens. Better late than never.

Just maybe have to repeat that Bertuzzi/Tavares/Nylander have been a great 2nd line this season.

Also, Nylander has been ass when playing away from Matthews and Tavares:

With Matthews: 54.85 xGF%
With Tavares: 58.16 xGF%
With any other center: 27.31 xGF%

Why do folks keep wanting to break up Nylander Tavares?

Number 1 goalie having a mental breakdown was bad luck we could have done without.

Yea, its good we were able to scratch out those points the first half too (and Thank god for steady eddie Jones to carry the load for a while)

I think it has to do with Tavares production and finishing ability, mixed in with Bert being just as bad

Tavares since Sweden has been a 50 point player. He gets set up by nylander every game and yet he doesn’t finish, it’s been this way for Tavares for years though, it seems he always flubs a ton of chances

Mixed in with bertuzzi robbing nylander of points, that empty net miss tonight being another example, and too many nights it looks like nylander has been playing on an island

I hear you but when the team is scoring more than a goal/60 when he's with Tavares than without combined with bleeding goals against, I don't think it's a great idea to split them up. It also hasnt helped that all the injuries and line changes all year messed with everyone for more than half the season.

Bertuzzi/Tavares/Nylander have a 57% goal differential 5v5.

Nylander away from Matthews/Tavares has a 22%.

That math is pretty easy to me....

Ridley Greig for team MVP. This guy’s stupid EN clapper has single-handedly motivated this team more than all of Keefe’s efforts combined this season.
Personally, I think it's more that it coincided with one of the easier stretches of the schedule. If they can carry it over to the Vegas and Colorado games, I will be impressed. I'm guessing we see Woll back for one of those games.

Very good road win.
Since the Rielly suspension, the team is playing some good team hockey.
Playing with lots of intensity, paying lots of attention to the small details and being responsible defensively.
It's a pretty easy sell to the players to up their level when you lose an important player and playing a consistent 60 minutes of hardworking hockey is sometimes this teams biggest hurdle.

They did this last time he was out along with Brodie and others. We had Gio-Holl as our top pair, Mete-Hollowell as the 3rd pair, and our AHL backup in net - somehow they averaged like 2GAA for a few weeks.
