Matthews doesn't have that dawg in him, simple as that. He's not a gamer like Sidney Crosby, Nate MacKinnon or Kucherov. You will never win anything with this guy as your "go to". He is this era's Joe Thornton, which is amusing since he was "mentored" by him.

Most important thing about this game isn't even that they won, it's how they played

For the first time in a long time they straight up dominated, the ice was tilted in the NJ zone

Need to build on this and keep carrying the play

played a great 8 minutes and got the W.

core 4 showed why they are paid, won the game off of a few plays.

Woll was not good, he needs to get back to being the goalie he was earlier in the season.

Didn't like any of the core 3 games, but they did enough to win in the moments

Great to win a game where our stars came thru late.
Another loss tonight and who knows how bad a losing streak could get.
McCabe had a very strong game and his presence is so important for our blueline.
OEL had a rough game and has looked tired recently, maybe they should let him sit for a game.

About as good a 60 minutes as they've played in the last two months, Willy-Marner-Matthews looked great, McCabe was needed back and Woll was above average.

It was a good game and one they deserved to win.
