Post-Game Talk: Leafs Win 7-2 against Philly

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

A type of win they needed before heading on the Pacific coast trip

Need that kind of effort against all three of those teams - no sleepwalking against the Ducks and Sharks
I am looking for 2 wins out of three on the trip. Must win against the two weaker teams. Feels like a couple games that Matthews might be able to get some results in. But that LA game is going to be tough, they have 4 home losses all season...

Another shitty 3 in 4 night situation. Scheduling due to that 4 Nations tournament has really been shitty, for almost all teams.

Assume we will get a Dostal clinic on Sunday?

Sure would be neat for Matthews and Marner to get into gear.

Imagine a scenario where JT and Willy play like they did tonight, AND Marner and Matthews are also on fire... That's what it's going to take to succeeed in the playoffs imo. May as well test it out this week.

Shouldn't it technically be FLA?

Tied in points and RWs but FLA leads the head-to-head.

Anyway, this was a satisfying win. I want to see more of the same against the Sharks and Ducks. Go full throttle. No mercy.
No.

Tie-Breaking Procedure

If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order:
  1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
  2. The greater number of games won, excluding games won in Overtime or by Shootout (i.e., 'Regulation Wins'). This figure is reflected in the RW column.
  3. The greater number of games won, excluding games won by Shootout. This figure is reflected in the ROW column.
  4. The greater number of games won by the Club in any manner (i.e., 'Total Wins'). This figure is reflected in the W column.
  5. The greater number of points earned in games against each other among two or more tied clubs. For the purpose of determining standing for two or more Clubs that have not played an even number of games with one or more of the other tied Clubs, the first game played in the city that has the extra game (the 'odd game') shall not be included. When more than two Clubs are tied, the percentage of available points earned in games among each other (and not including any 'odd games') shall be used to determine standing.
  6. The greater differential between goals for and against (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the DIFF column.
  7. The greater number of goals scored (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the GF column.
NOTE: In standings a victory in a shootout counts as one goal for, while a shootout loss counts as one goal against.

Jesus Christ the Flyers are f***ing TRASH. They don't even qualify as shit, they're the equivalent of shit taking a shit.

However they also have the least delusional fanbase on this site because HF Flyers eviscerates that organization on a daily basis. They're unironically great, far too great for that skunk taint of a team.

That genuinely felt like Torts hired us to play a charity game against sick kids, slipped us a 20 said “don’t go easy on them they need to learn”.

They significantly overachieved last season. Seems like their management was aware of this. Feels like they are a ways away from being a playoff team yet.

Great games by JT, Willy and Bobby Too Much Man.

Not much going on with Marner and Matthews though, but I thought Knies has a good effort.

Good result, fun game to be at.

What were the betting odds on Kampf and Domi scoring on breakaways in the same game?
I would say Matthews dogged backchecking was evident. He won a lot of puck battles in all three zones. Marner was as invisible as he could be. I'll take it... no turnovers, no laziness. Knies was good yup, didn't get rewarded too much for it though.

I thought the D were also all pretty good. Tanev was fighting the puck all night, but got the job done. Too bad Rielly's goal didn't count... he can use any and all positiveness.

Second tie breaker is ROW (Regulation + OT Wins) and the Panthers are the shootout merchants being 5-0.
