Typical lazy game from Nylander where he still manages to score. It would be nice to see more from him, like we did last season.

Not a good game from Woll or Matthews, but it happens. Definitely need to upgrade Domi at 3C and get another RHD.

We haven’t been good and we still pick up 2 pts. I’m sure they’ll get better, this is the sign of a dangerous team.
Hes made holmberg look decent and we want more from him?? Trade domi and a pic for bert put him on that line and I’m sure his production will jump marner couldn’t even make holmberg look decent yet we’re confused on why the second line looks like that

Nylander is a 10.

8/10 offensively and 2/10 defensively for a 10/20.

He reminds me of Kessel.
It’s why he’ll never be more than the third wheel here.
He is what he is, I doubt he’s worried about it. Fans shouldn’t either.

That play he made on the Timmins goal was pretty good. Not many control the puck like he does. We’re spoiled to have two of them on the same team.

It is hilarious to see so many rip William in a game he was selected 1st star. Too funny

Agree 100% It’s comical to see how many alleged Leaf fans despise Nylander and Marner.

Two of the best players in the entire league and a segment of the fan base wants to run them out of town. Really have to wonder if they’re actually Leaf fans or just self loathing trolls.

I don’t think anyone despises Nylander or wants to run him out of town. Marner does have that special section for sure, unfortunately.

Considering Bitchy Mitchy's contract demands and lack of playoff success, it isn't unreasonable to want him gone.

I loved the kid at first and have a Marner jersey upstairs in my bedroom closet, but I am so over him now. If there isn't significant improvement in the playoffs this year then whether they trade him or let him walk, it is time to move on from him.

Aahahaha lol..

What a crazy game, fun to watch in a minor league crazy kind of way. Great use of a couple hours of my Sunday afternoon.

Take the two points, go get on the bird out of town, burn the tape (or delete the file these days I guess lol) and call it a day. Better one tomorrow please.

Nylander has his fair share as well. Not as much as Mitch.

At the moment the most hate seems to be on Matthews. Which is odd as he has a 9 game point streak (12 points in said 9 games) and the Leafs are 8-1 in that time.

But it's nice for everything to not be Marner's fault for awhile

Not to pick on Rielly but it's incredibly difficult to not notice he is a -16 while Tanev is a +26.

Not that +/- means a lot, but looked at from just inside the team that is pretty awful.

You'd think we could just enjoy the (so far) best regular season I've seen in 30 years.

And yes, I know, and I agree, it's all about the playoffs. But jesus, enjoy the 6 month season in the mean time.

I don't know man. $11.5 for a defensively irresponsible winger is a problem.
That first Pens goal was brutal. Lizotte is behind our net with the puck and Nylander is outside the blueline.
This sort of thing happens a lot with him.

I mean he is what he is. Pavel Bure was brutal, but does anyone not want prime Pavel on their team? Scoring wingers are what they are, it's not unique.

Mitch is more the unicorn.

Once again, we got the points, but didn't play a very good game defensively. It shows that this team needs really good goaltending to succeed in the playoffs. We're not capable of playing that hard, solid, consistent game from start to finish that is required in the playoffs.

If we have to rely on exceptional goaltending, it's becoming apparent that Stolarz has to be our No. 1. Woll has played well at times, but he's prone to having these types of games where he loses his net, has trouble finding the puck, leaves bizarre rebounds, etc. I've said it before, that Stolarz doesn't allow really weak goals, and that's what we're going to need. Woll has shown a tendency, even when he plays well, of allowing a stinker or two.

Interesting decision coming up, but I'd play Stolarz tomorrow, and then Wednesday against the Knights. Get him into a fairly good routine of playing regularly with a spell off once in a while.

To me he is what he is, it’s not changing at this point in his career. They got two points which is the main thing. Had they not he’d get a different review.

He's certainly not changing but it's still a lot of cap on a one dimensional player who's on the ice for barely more goals for than against?
Let's hope he can be like Kessel was for those 2 Pens wins.

I'd roll it straight here.

vs Sharks - Stolarz obviously
vs Knights - Go Woll because you want Stoly against Av's firepower Saturday
vs Av's - Stoly as above
vs Utah - Back to Woll
vs Panthers - back to Stoly
vs Sens - Back to Woll

Maps out straight forward. That Mar. 17th game against Flames is where you think of flipping starts

Nylander is the definition of a player that you want more from. All the talent in the world, but not enough hustle and net drive. Sometimes he turns it on, but it’s only been in spurts this year. Last year’s play was much more consistent. This year’s version is scoring a bit more, but I worry how this play translates come playoff time. He’s insanely talented but lazy is lazy, and lazy doesn’t get it done come playoffs. I’m not expecting anything crazy here, just more of last years net drive.

And Holmberg has been making good plays out there. Having better linemates helps, but it’s Holmberg that is turning things around. He’s driving the net, making plays, getting calls for us… chalking it all up to Nylander is unfair.

So you suggest alternating them each game? That’s not what I’m suggesting. I suggest 3 games Stolarz to 1 for Woll unless there’s a back to back.

Flu has been killing me the last couple of days, so I watched just a tiny bit of the final 10 minutes + OT.

They looked out of gas to me, the tight scheduling plus the absence of Tanev really took a toll on their bodies. The game tomorrow night will be ugly despite how bad SJ is.
