Yeah, but how nice would it be if Matthews threw down. He’s such a big guy and he does het physical. I get it’s not the smartest decision but I feel like it would go a long way with the fans and the rest of the team.
Yeah, once in a blue moon he reaches his limit. He can rag doll 95% of the league with his size but it isn't his thing. I agree that once in awhile he should send a message. It a fine line though,.if he gets injured, it isnt worth it.

He stood up to Suter after Suter crushed Marner. He was on IR a couple days later, nobody knows what caused it.

Not this line exactly but this group beat tampa in 6 and were expected to make short work of the Panthers

Marner, RoR and McCabe missing from there along with Woll

Brodie here was a good #3D better than current OEL and worse than tanev this wasnt 2023-2024 brodie who fell off hard.

McCabe was on the leafs but didnt play lilkely due to injury

Add in Marner, Woll, RoR & McCabe and that was a heavy expectations contending team to be fair.

This is a brutal lineup.
Only 7 players on that late 2022-23 season 20-man starting lineup against the detroit red wings on April 2, 2023, are still here with the maple leafs. The usual suspects: nylander, Tavares, Murray, matthews, Timmins, rielly and kampf.

Trade acquisition Ryan oreilly didn’t play in that game against the wings because he was injured in march. He was out for a month and came back right before the playoffs. Jake McCabe didn’t play in that game because Keefe gave him a day of rest. Mitch Marner was out because of injuries too. He was also out for a month and missed 12-15 games.

The rest are gone or retired.(13 players)

Third line great again. Love the speed and the forecheck.

McCabe was an absolute beast. His game has matured.

Nylander had some jump.

Our defence blocks a lot of shots.

Murray was ok in net, didn’t like the first goal.

Tanev is a warrior.

I knew Rielly and Timmins wouldn’t work. Rielly on the ice for 2 goals against.

Overall I was pleased. I thought we dominated. And yet, they again made it interesting in the third. Still in first but Florida won again keeping pace.

Great win! Found money on that third line, they really mesh together well. We haven’t had a lot of luck scoring off the rush this year, but boy they’ve caught lightning in a bottle.

Loved Willy tonight. Credit to Rielly for stepping up.

Murray was a bit shaky, but that’s okay. Hasn’t played in forever. Love that he played and got a win.

Matthews should probably take another month off. He is clearly hurt. Hopefully doesn’t play the four nations tournament.

We really missed McMann against the Bruins last year. This guy is very underrated. Again, happy to mention I'd eat crow about him. That pass too Domi was absolutely filthy, and watching Domi's reaction after he scored just makes me fall in love more and more with this group of guys. Love what Berube has brought to the team. The only thing holding this team back was hard nosed defense and some real goaltending depth.

I didn’t watch but happy for Murray.
He looked pretty rusty, to say the least. The game was closer than it should have been but luckily the Sabres are the Sabres. The 4th line was awful and had one shift where it looked like they were on the PK.

I dunno what was going on with the D but at some point it seemed like every possible D pair was tried, and Timmins ended up with the most 5v5 time and just 10s short of Tanev for TOI. Hopefully Woll can hold down the fort for the next month.
